Dr. Jack Kitts received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 1980. After a 3-year tour of duty as a medical officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, he specialized in anesthesiology and completed a research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He joined the Department of Anesthesia at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1988, where he served as the director of research and medical director of the preoperative assessment clinic prior to his appointment as Chief of the department and Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa, faculty of medicine.

In 1998, Dr. Kitts was appointed Vice-President of Medical Affairs and led the medical staff during a complex restructuring in which three hospitals and five large programs were merged into The Ottawa Hospital. He completed his master’s degree in business administration in 2001 and was named President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital in February 2002, a position he held until his retirement on June 26, 2020.

With more than I,000 beds, 12,000 employees and approximately 1,400 physicians, The Ottawa Hospital is recognized as one of the largest and most important research and teaching hospitals in Canada. Its research institute is one of the foremost institutes in Canada, involving more than 1500 scientists, clinical investigators, trainees and staff.

Michael is Deloitte’s National Life Sciences & Health Care (LS&HC) Leader and a member of our Global LS&HC Executive team. He has been a member of Deloitte Canada’s Board of Directors for the past 7 years, and is Co-Chair of the Strategy, Ethics and Risk Committee of the Board. He brings over 35 years of international consulting experience with a focus on large-scale, complex transformation programs. Michael is known for his creative change strategies and outstanding client focus, working with Boards and Executive teams to deliver on major change programs.

As LS&HC Leader, Michael is focused on helping to improve the quality and cost of service delivery, while positively impacting the health and well-being of our citizens and communities. He was responsible for the development of a Workforce Matching Portal on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Health to respond to the Covid crisis; Worked with a cluster of 7 hospitals in Ontario on a Clinical Information System operating model; Managed MD Financial’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR) business for 9 months; Canadian health market access for UCB; and is leading our Smart Health Communities program – focused on health and well-being and early-stage intervention. Over the past 15 years, he has worked extensively with the Board and Executive Team of the Canadian Medical Association on key member programs and priorities, strategy, organization, operations and relationship with the PTMA’s.

Michael recently led Deloitte’s Clients & Industries portfolio, with responsibility for sales, delivery and account management across our top Canadian client portfolio. Michael is former Chair of the Leader and Talent Committee of the Board, responsible for governance of our 1000 Partners. He has worked in 25 countries around the world, including Canada, US, UK, Germany, Netherlands, France, India and Singapore. Previous leadership roles include Consulting Director Operations for Ontario and Quebec, and Human Capital leader across 15 countries in Europe.

He has a deep and broad experience in consulting to senior executives in such areas as governance, program and project management, performance management, operations reviews, cost reduction, leadership alignment, organization design, culture change, workforce transition and communications.

Michael is a Certified Management Consultant and holds the designation of ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is past Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. He is a past member of the Campaign Cabinet of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

Alok Kanti is the President & CEO of Bayer Inc. in Canada and was appointed to this role in August 2015. The organization is one of the country’s leading healthcare companies, and has been recognized numerous times as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, and one of Canada’s Greenest Employers. Bayer Inc. is headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario and employs approximately 1200 professionals across the country. He is also the Senior Bayer Representative in Canada.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Kanti was the Managing Director of Bayer HealthCare China for three years, where he led over 8000 colleagues, based in Beijing, China. Bayer was ranked in the top three Pharmaceutical companies in China.

Over a span of 28 years, Mr. Kanti has risen up the ranks and been appointed in several key positions within the Bayer organization. He has directly led organizations and legal entities based in over 27 countries, including USA, China, Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and ANZ. He has managed businesses in Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Health, Animal Health and Dermatology.  He has lived in India, Philippines, USA, Canada, Germany, Singapore and China.

Mr. Kanti started his professional career with Bayer in June 1994 as an International Management Trainee with Bayer Inc. in Canada. Three years later, he took on the position of Assistant to Region Head, Regions of the World (ROW), within the Pharmaceutical division of Bayer AG, headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany. He then spent the next two years working on International Strategic Marketing based in Wuppertal, Germany.

Mr Kanti obtained his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from University of Delhi in 1989 and his Masters degree in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management in 1994.

Jimmy Yang is a Managing Director and Accenture’s National Health Industry Leader. He has worked across the health care and life sciences sector, bringing with him a depth of experience in strategic planning, program design, new service model innovation, and partnership development. In his role, he works with leaders across public and private sector health care as they evolve to focus on better care, outcomes, access, and efficiency, enabled by technology. He sits on the North America health industry leadership team as well as the Canadian Strategy and Consulting leadership group at Accenture. Jimmy is a leading health strategist, working with clients and innovators on large scale health transformations and building modern capability networks and solutions to address the sector’s most difficult challenges. Jimmy sat on the Ontario Joint Ministers’ Roundtable, focused on strategic recommendations for the provincial health data platform and in the response to COVID-19. He has worked closely with health care leaders in the overall pandemic response, supporting solutions in case and contact management and vaccine management.

Jimmy has founded three companies over his career, spanning digital health, consulting, and clinical research. He is the co-founder and current Vice Chair of Red Maple Trials, a global clinical research organization (CRO) that works with biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and academic centres of excellence, supporting phases I through IV research programs in the therapeutic areas of rare disease, respirology, allergy and immunology. He has been published in multiple high impact factor journals and holds patents in the clinical research domain.

Over the last 20 years, Jimmy has held roles at Schering Plough, GlaxoSmithKline, Deloitte, Garrison Health, and Accenture. He has his Master in Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business, York University and his Bachelor degree from the University of Toronto, where he studied History and Economics.

Additionally, Jimmy is an Adjunct Professor at the Schulich School of Business and a member of faculty in the school’s Health Industry Management Program. He teaches a graduate course called the Business of Healthcare, that explores emerging models in public and private sector health and leading practices in convergence networks in health. He is a volunteer at Musicounts, an arts and music charity that provides better access to music, instruments and music therapy to communities that need it the most.

Liz brings more than 30 years of health care experience, both within Ontario and British Columbia. She a registered nurse and has served in incremental senior leadership positions for more than 25 years.

Scarborough Health Network is Ontario’s third largest community hospital. Prior to joining Scarborough Health Network in July 2017, Liz was President & CEO of St. Joseph’s Health Centre Toronto where she was instrumental in the voluntary merger of three hospitals to create Unity Health Toronto. Liz’s extensive background in health care leadership also includes holding the position of Executive Vice President Clinical Operations & Chief of Nursing and Professional Practice for the William Osler Health System, one of Canada’s largest multi-site community hospital corporations.

On the West coast, Liz served as Senior Operating Officer for Vancouver Acute, a multi-site academic health sciences centre within the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Canada’s largest integrated health region. Additionally, Liz has held positions of Executive Director, Program Planning and Services, and Director, Cardiac Sciences for Providence Health Care, also in Vancouver.

A native of London, Ontario, Liz obtained her Nursing Degree from McMaster University, graduating magna cum laude. She also holds a Masters in Health Administration from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Arts in Leadership and Organizational Training from Royal Roads University in Victoria, and is a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.d). In 2019 Liz was recognized by WXN (Women’s Executive Network) as one of Canada’s top 100 most powerful women.

Nitin Jain was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, Sienna Senior Living in June 2020.

Having most recently served for six years as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Sienna, Nitin has extensive experience in strategic planning, crisis response and team transformation. Nitin is deeply committed to Sienna’s mandate to help residents, our nation’s seniors, live fully, every day. A generation that has given so much for all of us deserves no less than to age with dignity – it is this deep conviction that guides Nitin’s approach to leading Sienna.

Nitin’s career began as an operational leader in the hotel and hospitality sector, where he rebuilt and re-invigorated large and diverse teams. His capacity for identifying key areas for operational improvement and implementing plans to capitalize on these opportunities, has been a defining feature of his professional career ever since. In every role he has held, Nitin has worked collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve success and exceed expectations. Nitin is a graduate of the Director Education Program at Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and has earned his Institute of Corporate Director designation (ICD.D). He holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Nitin obtained his undergraduate degree in Hotel and Hospitality Management from Widener University and the Indian Institute of Hotel Management.
