As Canada’s top-ranked business school, Schulich consistently finishes in the Top 10 in the most prestigious international case competitions. Our case team members go through an intense training process, learning to compete with the brightest students from the world’s best business schools. They act as ambassadors for the School globally, gaining world class presentation skills and lifelong connections.

Joe Fayt has been coaching and inspiring Schulich graduate students for over a decade. He has led successful teams in over 60 case competitions in cities such as London, Paris, Davos, Dubai, Shanghai, New York City, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Our Schulich teams have consistently finished near the top in the most elite global competitions.     Global Case Competition at Harvard

    Each year, close to 200 teams from around the world enter the first round of this prestigious competition. Schulich is one of only two schools that have advanced to the Top 10 Finals three years in a row.

    International Chamber of Commerce Commercial Mediation Competition

    In 2019, there were 62 teams competing from 42 countries in Paris at the 14th annual competition. This was the first time that Schulich participated, and finished in second place.

    Corporate Knights “Business for a Better World” Case Competition

    Team Schulich finished in the Top 3 for three years in a row. The teams presented their recommendations to an elite panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

    MBA Impact Investing Network & Training (MIINT) Competition

    MIINT was traditionally only open to Ivey League schools in the USA. Team Schulich was the first Canadian school to be invited to attend. We made it to the finals in our first two years competing, and finished in second place the first year.

    MBA Games

    Team Schulich finished #1 at the first-ever virtual MBA Games, hosted by Université Laval, January 2021. Team Schulich has finished #1 seven times at the MBA Games since 2003: 2003, 2004, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2021

    Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec

    This competition is open to students across Canada and challenges participants with real-life cases from diverse industries and best in class global brands. Schulich teams have finished #1 for the past two years, earning $30,000 and $25,000 in prize money.

Every year, the MBA Games require participating teams to create a video that captures the essence of the competition’s theme. This year, the theme was “Reimagine: It Starts with Us".

#1 – First Place

  • Ted Rogers’ Reimagining Women in Leadership Case Competition
    • A team of four masters students finished #1 at this event, which was in its second year
    • The case addressed the issue of gender violence, and particularly the alarming rise of this issue as a result of working from home
    • This was a virtual competition and included teams from all over the world; the other two Top-3 teams were from the University of Buffalo in New York, and the University of Makerere in Uganda
  • Duke University, Energy in Emerging Markets Case Competition
    • Team Schulich finished #1 in this prestigious event
    • Part of an energy conference hosted by Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina
    • 60 teams from 8 countries participated, first two rounds were held virtually
    • Schulich was one of five teams that advanced through both rounds to the finals
    • The final round was held in-person at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke
    • Schulich competed against teams from Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge, Kellogg School of Management, University of Colorado-Boulder, and IESE Business School (Barcelona)

#2 & #3 – Second and Third Place

  • DeGroote Innovative Solutions Competition (DISC)
    • Two Schulich case teams competed in the event
    • Both teams advanced to the finals, finishing #2 and #3
    • This year’s advanced prep case involved proposing a digital products launch for Scotiabank in the crypto space; the 3-hour case was focused on developing an Enterprise Performance Management system for a construction company

#3 – Third Place

  • Ted Rogers Ethical Leadership Case Competition
    • A team of Schulich undergraduate students placed third, marking Schulich’s fourth consecutive finals appearance
    • This year’s competition theme focused on human resources, public relations, operations, and ethical concerns in Health Care Management
    • Team members were assisted by MHIA faculty members Joe Mapa, Amin Mawani, and Adam Diamant
  • MBA Games
    • Biggest masters level competition in Canada, held in-person again, first time since covid
    • Schulich hosted the games again, for the second consecutive year
    • Over 250 students participating from 14 Canadian MBA programs
    • Schulich finished #3 overall, #1 in Academics; both case teams finished #1

ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition (Paris)

  • First-ever virtual format for this competition
  • 42 schools from 30 countries competed over six consecutive days
  • Team Schulich finished in Top 10 (9th place overall)

  • Yale Case Competition
    • Hosted by the Yale Graduate Student Consulting Club
    • 20 teams competing, including schools from Harvard, Yale, Berkley
    • One finalist team was comprised of all PhD students
    • Team Schulich advanced to the finals, and finished in first place
  • MBA Games
    • Biggest masters level competition in Canada
    • This was the first-ever fully virtual MBA Games
    • Over 250 students participating from 16 Canadian MBA programs

  • L’Oreal Brandstorm (undergrad)
    • Product management challenge hosted by L’Oreal globally
    • Three Schulich teams advanced to the Top 10 this year

  • HEC CSR Competition
    • Competed against 30 other graduate programs from around the world
    • Schulich team advanced to the finals, and finished in third place
  • UNB Data Challenge
    • Hosted by University of New Brunswick
    • Based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)established by the United Nations
    • Teams were asked to select a data set, and recommend ways to achieve one of the SDG’s
    • There were 30 teams competing from 8 countries – Schulich finished in third place
