Schulich places first and second at URECC
Schulich recently won both first and second place in the 2024 Undergraduate Real Estate Case Competition (URECC), hosted by the University of Guelph at the Deloitte Headquarters in Toronto.
The competition was rigorous, featuring two 30-minute presentation rounds, each evaluated by a different set of judges with prominent companies who were unaware of the participants’ school affiliations. Despite strong competition from leading North American universities, including the University of Toronto, University of Texas at Austin, The Ohio State University, University of Houston, University of Ottawa, and University of Calgary, among others, teams from Schulich secured the top two positions.
The first place team comprised of Cornelia Esanu, Alba Azizi, Amirarshia Rahimisadegh, and Patrick Trimmel. The second place team included Shobhit Kumar, Summer Dia, Diya Sharma, Mark Angelo Acusta and Sepehr Soheili.
“I was introduced to this competition by my instructor, Anthony Ottavino, in PROP 4950, where we learned about real estate finance by solving Harvard Business School cases and hearing real-life examples from our instructors’ and guest speakers’ experiences,” said Rahimisadegh. “Schulich has been raising the bar in educating students in classrooms and beyond – recent accomplishments by Schulich students and alumni prove that it has become a powerhouse of ideas and talents. The future is yet to arrive.”
Both teams thank Ottavino, their amazing Faculty Advisor, whose guidance was instrumental in their success.
