Effective beginning the 2025–2026 academic year. This specialization was previously titled Entrepreneurial Studies.
The Schulich Entrepreneurship and Innovation specialization is an experiential MBA specialization designed for proactive individuals who desire to create, grow or enable ventures for the new economy. It recognizes the increasing importance of growing small and medium-sized enterprises as the primary job creators and important sources of innovation in national economies.
Courses in this specialization have attitudinal, conceptual and skill objectives, and are designed for proactive individuals who intend to create their own jobs in small, medium or large organizations or those who wish to advise, finance or work with entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship involves pursuing opportunities beyond current resources and building growing organizations. The rising importance of small and medium-size enterprises as primary job creators in national economies reflects a global trend as significant as free trade zones, new communications technologies or international business. Family firms make up 65% of all businesses in the Canadian economy
