Schulich Launches New Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) Lab
Schulich has announced the launch of a new research lab, housed within the George Weston Ltd. Centre for Sustainable Supply Chains at the Schulich School of Business. The new Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) Accelerator Lab was launched earlier this summer and has the aim of accelerating the adoption and implementation of public procurement practices globally.
The Lab’s focus will include delivering innovative practitioner-oriented research, developing new tools and best practices to monitor global SPP implementation and impact, as well as creating new educational resources to address expertise gaps across public entities.
The Centre has welcomed SPP Lab Director, Dr. Carsten Hansen, to lead the Lab alongside Research Chair & Centre Director, David Johnston. Dr. Hansen is a sustainable procurement and supply chain risk management professional with 20+ years of international management experience. Previously, Dr. Hansen was the Chief, Global Procurement Services, at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The Lab will commemorate its launch in its participation in several events this fall, including:
Dr. Carsten Hansen will speak at Supply Chain Management Association Ontario’s (SCMAO) “Sustainable Procurement” event on Sept. 21, 2023, on behalf of the SPP Lab. Dr. Hansen will be hosting a workshop session on leveraging sustainable procurement to deliver on business objectives. Details and registration.
Dr. David Johnston and Dr. Carsten Hansen will co-present the workshop, “Managing Climate Change Risks to Supply Chains,” on Oct. 14, 2023, at an event for Schulich alumni working in supply chain management, hosted at the Schulich School of Business. Details and registration.
