• George Weston Ltd Centre for Sustainable Supply Chains

Resilient, sustainable supply chains have never been more vital than they are now.

The goal of the Centre will be to bring together diverse stakeholders to explore how best to create and secure supply chains facing major challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, and supply disruptions. It will share supply chain best practices with the many vital sectors that drive our modern economy and it will develop the next generation of responsible industry leaders.

  • The new Centre will be located at Schulich’s award-winning, sustainably designed Rob and Cheryl McEwen Graduate Study & Research Building.

  • Get involved in shaping the next generation of supply chains.

We live in unprecedented times calling for resiliency and innovation. But many of the ways we source, make and deliver the goods and services in supply chains that we rely upon have been around for decades. Supply chains are changing. Because they have to. If not to fix the problems that have accumulated since the middle of the last century, then to the realize the opportunities of new technology to secure the health and wellbeing of all members of society. The next decade will be critical for bringing under control our behavior as consumers and producers of carbon and other toxic consequences that threaten to make our planet less livable. It will involve working out the priorities and inevitable trade-offs as to how best to serve customers, employees, suppliers and community. For organizations the risks disrupting profit and growth are ever present but so are the promising new paths to secure sustainable prosperity.

Is your organization up for the challenges ahead? Do you want to get involved in a conversation about the shaping our common future? We are creating a research centre to focus the best thinking on how to lead and accelerate the changes that are needed to make supply chains sustainable. With generous support from George Weston Ltd we have an opportunity to discover and support leading practices. As we move to the formal launch of this centre in 2021, I invite you to get in touch with me as the inaugural centre director. You can have a voice in focusing and leveraging this investment in our common future.

“Supply chains are the heart of Canada’s economy and provide the food, medication, and other items Canadians need by connecting communities from coast to coast to coast. We are delighted to partner with the Schulich School of Business to deepen our country’s expertise and develop sustainable supply chains that will contribute to a stronger, more resilient Canada.”
