Enrolment in Classes & Prep Courses
-
You can only enrol in classes once you receive an e-mail with confirmation of your schedule and instructions specific to your program. You’ll receive a detailed outline of your first term classes and instructions on how to enrol in courses at Schulich based on your date of admission to the program, and your intake.
If you were admitted for Summer: Course enrolment normally opens in late March. Watch your e-mail for for a detailed Term 1 class schedule and instructions on how to enrol.
If you were admitted for Fall:
- Course enrolment for MBA students normally opens in June. Watch your e-mail for details about your assigned cohort and how to enrol in classes. You’ll learn more about enrolment in your Smart Start webinar with your program advisor.
- Course enrolment for Specialized Masters programs normally opens in July. Watch your e-mail for a detailed Term 1 class schedule and instructions on how to enrol.
Please note that you will only receive instructions and access to enrol in classes after you have booked Smart Start (MBA) or registered for your program orientation (specialized Masters).
Generally this means that the remaining seats in this section are currently being managed via a waitlist, or are reserved for a specific program. When encountering courses that are “full” or “reserved”, you can add your name to online waitlists. Waitlists can be accessed via the link in your MySchulich portal (or at http://waitlist.schulich.yorku.ca/applications/wlportal.nsf.
Students should ensure a full course-load in the meantime, in case the waitlist cannot be granted.
Understanding the Waitlist “101”
If you need further assistance with course planning, connect with your Student Success Coordinator.
If you are a MMgt, MMAI, MSCM or MMKG student, or if you have received a conditional offer, you may have mandatory prep courses to complete before your first term.
You will be e-mailed detailed instructions to complete your prep courses (typically 6 weeks in advance of the start of term).
Do not enrol in the prep courses until you have been contacted by Student & Enrolment Services; in some cases, you may require a Schulich access code, instructions for reimbursement and/or secure links to exam components.
This depends on your program requirements. Please refer to your e-mail instructions to understand your commitments for prep course completion, attempts and scores. Generally prep courses (while not part of your academic record), must be completed in order to ensure that you are appropriately prepared for the class material you will encounter in your courses.
Student Accounts
-
All students will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to set up a Passport York account. This is an ID you’ll use throughout your program to access online services at York University, enrol in courses, and register for orientation.
If you’ve tried to set up your Passport York unsuccessfully, here are a few things to note:
- If you have an existing Passport York account, you do not need to create a new one. Try using your existing log-in details.
- If you are copying and pasting any of the details, try typing them manually instead. Sometimes pasting includes formatting that cannot validate properly.
- If that still does not work, you may need to reach out to York UIT for further technical support regarding your Passport York account: askit@yorku.ca .
You’ll be assigned your own York/Schulich e-mail addresses before the start of term. This e-mail will be based on the Passport York ID that you set up.
You will receive instructions from Student Services to check that your email is activated, and learn how to access it. Please do note that it normally takes up to two weeks after creating your Passport York account before your Schulich email is created.
For technical support contact the Helpdesk: askit@yorku.ca
