• SRPAA Leadership Fund for Black and Indigenous Communities

The Schulich Real Property Alumni Association (SRPAA) and the Brookfield Centre in Real Estate and Infrastructure at the Schulich School of Business have established the SRPAA Leadership Fund for Black and Indigenous Communities. Supported by the SRPAA and alumni and friends of the Brookfield Centre, the Fund aims to create more equitable and inclusive opportunities for promising young individuals from underrepresented communities to obtain their undergraduate degree and pursue a career in business. Each year, the Fund will support two student awards, the SRPAA Leadership Award for Black Communities and the SRPAA Leadership Award for Indigenous Communities.

The SRPAA Leadership Awards will be given annually to incoming Black and Indigenous domestic BBA and iBBA students, who have demonstrated leadership characteristics, resilience and community involvement. Preference will be granted to individuals with the greatest financial need. The awards are valued at $7,500 each and are renewable for up to three additional years provided the student remains in good academic standing. The maximum amount per student is $30,000. The recipient will also have optional access to mentoring and guidance from the Brookfield Centre and its alumni community, and those with an interest in pursuing a real estate career will have the opportunity to receive assistance in securing an internship after their third year. The inaugural recipients will be announced in fall 2022.

    • Apply to the Schulich BBA/iBBA program via the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) by January 13, 2022.

    • Complete the Schulich Supplementary Application by February 2, 2022. An invitation to complete the Supplementary Application will be sent by email following receipt of an applicant’s OUAC application.

    • Applicants will also receive an email with direction to complete a voluntary entrance funding form, which provides the option to identify as a Black or Indigenous person. This form will be used for the adjudication of a variety of entrance scholarships and awards where students are required to show financial need.

    • Shortlisted applicants who are eligible will be invited to apply via submission of a brief statement of interest to demonstrate how they meet the criteria by March 4, 2022.

    • Applicants will be informed of the status of their application no later than June 1, 2022.

    • For alumni gifts of $1,000 or more, the donor’s name will be proudly and permanently recognized on the Schulich Alumni Donors Wall, located in the Seymour Schulich Building.
