• SRPAA Leadership Fund for Black and Indigenous Communities

The Schulich Real Property Alumni Association (SRPAA) and the Brookfield Centre in Real Estate and Infrastructure at the Schulich School of Business have established the SRPAA Leadership Awards for Black and Indigenous Communities. Supported by the SRPAA and alumni and friends of the Brookfield Centre, the Fund aims to create more equitable and inclusive opportunities for promising young individuals from underrepresented communities to obtain their undergraduate degree and pursue a career in business. Each year, the Fund will support two student awards, the SRPAA Leadership Award for Black Communities and the SRPAA Leadership Award for Indigenous Communities.

The SRPAA Leadership Awards will be given annually to incoming Black and Indigenous domestic BBA students, who have demonstrated leadership characteristics, resilience and community involvement. Preference will be granted to individuals with the greatest financial need. The awards are valued at $7,500 each and are renewable for up to three additional years provided the student remains in good academic standing. The maximum amount per student is $30,000. The recipient will also have optional access to mentoring and guidance from the Brookfield Centre and its alumni community, and those with an interest in pursuing a real estate career will have the opportunity to receive assistance in securing an internship after their third year.

Support the SRPAA and Partners Leadership Awards for Black and Indigenous Communities

  • The SRPAA rallied together a founding group of donors and raised more than $250,000 to create new awards to support incoming Indigenous and Black students over the next four years. We celebrate this milestone, but are committed to do more to break down barriers that have restricted access to education and professional advancement for these communities.

Our community has inspired us to support even more students, so we are establishing an endowment, named the SRPAA and Partners Leadership Awards for Black and Indigenous Communities, to permanently fund new awards for Indigenous and Black students. Through the support of corporate partners and our alumni community, these awards will provide vital funding for tuition and be augmented by a mentorship and internship program. To learn more, please contact advancement@schulich.yorku.ca.

In appreciation of your support, we are pleased to provide the following:

    • Gifts of $5,000 or more will be recognized on the Schulich Lifetime Giving Donor Wall, located in the Seymour Schulich Building.
    • For alumni gifts of $1,000 or more, the donor’s name will be proudly and permanently recognized on the Schulich Alumni Donors Wall, located in the Seymour Schulich Building. Additionally, alumni donors will be enrolled in the Dean’s Society program for one year from the date the donation is received.
    • Name recognition on the donor listing below for contributions over $25. Please allow up to 10 business days for your name to be added.

Donations made to the SRPAA and Partners Leadership Awards for Black and Indigenous Communities will support both awards. Proceeds generated from the Perspectives Lecture will also be directed toward the Fund. If you are based in the USA, UK, Hong Kong, or Singapore, please contact us at advancement@schulich.yorku.ca for details on how to make a tax-deductible or tax-effective donation.
