2024 In Research @ Schulich
A Year In Review
At the risk of sounding somewhat self-congratulatory, 2024 has been a banner year for research at the Schulich School of Business. Schulich faculty members continued to publish and contribute to academic journals and were responsible for authoring and co-authoring dozens of articles (including over 2 dozen in FT50 ranked journals), in addition to several high-profile books/book chapters, white papers and conference papers. See our Spotlight on Research report for an overview of some of our faculty members’ research achievements!
Moreover, the last academic year was a record year in terms of the number of federal research grant applications submitted (17) and the amount of research funding, with a record $1,668,592.79 in external research grants given to our faculty during FY2023-2024.
Schulich faculty also secured several high-profile funding opportunities at a rate higher than their peers, including SSHRC Insight Development Grants (57% success rate vs. a 43% success rate nationally, and a 50% success rate at York), and SSHRC Insight Grants (50% success rate vs. a 34% success rate nationally and a 32% success rate at York).
(And just a quick reminder that SSHRC Insight Development Grants applications are due on February 2)
To broaden the reach of our collective work, Schulich has made significant efforts to promote (and celebrate) our research achievements. For example, in addition to our newsletter and social media posting, this year saw the launch of the new Research @ Schulich Podcast (co-produced with Cameron Graham’s Podcast or Perish), which has allowed us to translate our faculty’s academic research into accessible and easily digestible audio and video format, suitable for general audiences.
That’s 2024 (in a nutshell). So, what can you expect in 2025 from the Office of the Associate Dean Research?
