I have had the privilege of working in Alan's SEEC department since 2002.

Alan, I have been having a difficult time putting my feelings and thoughts into words.
I hope you will indulge me as I just share my thoughts and feelings.

Dr. Middleton, you have impacted my life in so many ways. You have always been so generous with your time, whenever I needed advice you were never too busy. I think this is one of the main things I've missed, in being away from the office these months. The luxury of always popping into your office in the morning and catching up. "Good morning Dr. Middleton!!"

My daughter was fortunate to meet you during her time at AIESEC. Her growth from just a few years with this organization changed her and gave her such confidence. You had a lot to do with that! When she was starting her Master's Degree, your advice and support helped her steer her way.

And I don't think I can ever forget that you had to share the shocking and heart breaking news about our dear friend Brenda a few years ago. Literally a couple of hours after you heard. You hadn't even had enough time to process our loss. But you made all the difference in how we dealt with her loss in those following days.

Alan I can't separate the impact you've had on my personal growth from the incredible impact you've had on me, professionally.

You have always believed in me. You encouraged me to complete the MCPM, and you always helped me to see situations from a different perspective.

Your knowledge is so vast that I almost always walked away from our conversations having learned something new. Yes, even 18 years later!

I could really go on and on here. So many memories and reasons why I'm so grateful to you.

I will really miss hearing your booming voice as you did your morning rounds checking in on every member in the office. "Good morning young Kathi!".....

I really look forward to being able to say a proper good-bye after Covid.

I will not say good-bye Alan. Because I don't want to believe that this is good-bye.

Rather, I will say.....I look forward to catching up with you when we can safely do so.

I will close with this:
I am so grateful for Dr. Alan C. Middleton. Our Executive Director and Mentor.

Love and Respect
Kathi Grossman
(and, Robin as well sends her best wishes!!)
