From industry research to mock interviews, the CCD offers several online resources to contribute to your career growth. Some of these complementary resources have been purchased from external partners and are exclusive to Schulich students.

The Schulich Cover Letter Template and the Schulich Resume Template must be used by all students who would like their cover letter and/or resume to be included in the Books of Applications/Resumes that are created by the CCD and shared with employers and recruiters, including at/for specific recruitment fairs and info sessions.

To maximize the effectiveness of your application materials and ensure they meet Schulich’s standards, students are encouraged to review the
Cover Letter Guide and Resume Guide before completing their documents. These resources provide detailed guidance on content development, formatting, and best practices for creating professional, employer-ready applications.

Our courses help students connect their interests, strengths and motivators with meaningful career opportunities. Through curated content and practical activities, students develop their professional presence, strengthen their job search skills and create an in-depth, strategic job search plan.

We currently offer:

• MGMT 6350: Required for MBA in Technology Leadership students and available as an elective to students in the MBA, Master of Health Industry Administration (MHIA) and Master of Supply Chain Management (MSCM) programs.

• MGMT 5190 and MGMT 5290: Required for students in the Master of Marketing and Master of Management programs.

Our goal is to expand access to credit-based Professional Development courses across all Schulich graduate programs.

Launched on May 7, 2026, CCD Masterclasses connect Schulich students with senior executives from local and global organizations for conversations about careers, leadership and industry practice.

Each session is facilitated by a faculty member who connects academic research with insights from the executive’s experience. Open to all Schulich students, sessions are intentionally kept small to encourage meaningful discussion and personal networking.

Masterclasses are generally held monthly, except in December, April and August. Masterclasses are announced on Handshake. Check Handshake for upcoming sessions and reserve your seat.

Classroom Focused

Guest speakers, case studies, simulations and role-playing connect course concepts with practical situations. Students reflect on these experiences to deepen their understanding, while participating professionals bring industry insights into the classroom.

Students collaborate with industry and community partners on projects that address real-world challenges. These credit-based experiences support student learning while responding to partner needs through research, analysis and recommendations.

Work Focused

Credit-based placements, internships and co-ops give students hands-on experience in organizational settings. Students apply classroom learning, strengthen professional competencies and explore career paths, while host organizations engage emerging talent and gain support for their work.

The Centre for Career Design (CCD) connects students and organizations to support meaningful work-focused experiential education.

These events provide a forum for students and industry partners to connect and interact. They include industry networking mixers and breakfasts, the financial services luncheon, and more.

Additionally, employers host recruitment information sessions to promote their recruitment initiatives and showcase their organizations. Eligibility for jobs and recruitment events is based on your academic program.

At the Centre for Career Design, we recognize that professional portraits can be expensive and difficult to organize, which is why we are happy to provide this convenient service, free-of-charge, to all Schulich students. In May of 2024, the Centre for Career Design installed an Iris Air portrait studio. This state-of-the-art technology allows students to take and edit professional-quality photos of themselves in a matter of minutes. Learn more about this free resource here.

• You will receive a Welcome email from the CCD to your Schulich email address (@schulich.yorku.ca) when your account is ready — no later than two weeks before your first semester begins.
• If you accepted your offer late, your account will be created in the next processing cycle. This is normal and does not require a request.
• Log in with your Passport York ID and password. Your Handshake account and all linked career resources are tied to your Schulich email address  (@schulich.yorku.ca) — personal email or @yorku.ca addresses will not work.
