Schulich wins second annual Tetra Pak® Canada Business Case Competition
TORONTO (March 7, 2016) — Tetra Pak®, the world’s leading food processing and packaging equipment company, announces the winners of its second annual Tetra Pak Canada Business Case Competition. Thirty-six teams representing 130 students from John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal, and Schulich participated.
Tetra Pak challenged the teams to analyse and evaluate how best to launch a new type of dairy offering in the Canadian market. The competition gives the students an opportunity to apply their theoretical learnings to a real world business challenge. A team of judges from Tetra Pak evaluated the students’ presentations based on their analysis, recommendations and presentation. Students competed for cash prizes, and the opportunity to interview for an internship position at Tetra Pak.
“We were extremely pleased with the quality of work the students put into their case studies,” said Scott Thornton, managing director of Tetra Pak Canada. “The competition gives us an opportunity to engage with creative minds around a business challenge and give back to the academic community.”
After visiting the two schools to hear preliminary presentations, the judges selected two teams from each school to present their case at Tetra Pak’s office in Toronto. “At Tetra Pak, innovation and creativity are part of our DNA,” said Thornton. “We were pleased to see these values coming through in the cases and were impressed by the calibre of the final presentations.”
The winning team from the Schulich School of Business at York University was selected for their thorough analysis of the challenge and insightful approach. The students on the winning team, Dhananjay Chauhan, Ankur Johar, Shikar Shah and Vishal Vashistha, are 2016 MBA candidates.
