Schulich Celebrates Launch of Master of Management in AI
Schulich hosted a Program Launch and Networking Social last week to officially kick off their new Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence (MMAI) program. The new program, which begins in September 2019, is a 12-month career-focused degree that combines a broad range of advanced AI applications with business skills. The program is specifically designed to meet the growing need for talented professionals with the skills and advanced applied knowledge to develop, evaluate, refine and implement AI-related applications and technologies.
Before the panel discussion, Murat Kristal, Program Director of the MMAI Program held a brief information session to provide more insight into this innovative program.
“The Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence will provide students with coding skills and a much-needed business perspective,” shared Professor Kristal. “You will be pushed to your limits, but you will become an AI expert in the end.”
Marcia Annisette, Associate Dean of Students, and Schulich Dean Dezsö J. Horváth delivered their welcome address before a panel discussion on “How AI is shaping our World”, which featured:
- Ian Scott, Chief Data Scientist, Deloitte OMNIA
- Chris Matys, Founder, Ignite AI
- Sinead Murphy, Data & AI Services Solutions Specialist, Microsoft
- Karan Walia, Co-founder & CEO, Cluep
- Russell Ward, Co-founder and CEO, Massively.ai
- Anna Feshchenko, Founder & CEO, Athena Integrated Systems, Inc
Professor Kristal moderated the discussion and tailored his questions to each presenter. They discussed how the MMAI program will prepare students for these new AI roles, the growing job opportunities in our country, and what employers look for: technical expertise, communication skills, team management, resilience, curiosity and creativity.
Prospective students had the opportunity to discuss the MMAI program with the panelists, faculty members and the admission team after the presentation.
