Class of 2021 Celebrates in Style with Virtual Graduation Reception
This year’s graduating class was invited to Schulich’s virtual Graduation Reception following the York University Graduation Celebration. More than 700 attendees, including students, friends and family from around the globe, as well as Schulich’s faculty and staff were in attendance to celebrate the graduating Class of 2021.
The event kicked off with a recap video of the year, followed by congratulatory speeches from the Dean and two Associate Deans and words of wisdom from all the Program Directors.
“You excelled in national and international case competitions, started your own new ventures while helping small Toronto business, and created initiatives to make the Schulich community more diverse, inclusive and equitable,” shared Kiridaran (Giri) Kanagaretnam, Associate Dean of Students. “Your commitment to excellence and adjustment to remote delivery during challenging circumstances demonstrate that you have the much-needed flexibility and agility to confront the rapidly transforming world ahead,” added Marcia Annisette, Master of Ceremonies and Associate Dean, Academic.
Interim Dean, Detlev Zwick, commended our students for embracing the virtual school year, creating new ways to connect and for being great ambassadors for the School during a time like no other. “We appreciate your resilience, spirit and drive throughout this challenging year,” he said. “On behalf of the entire Schulich community, we’re very proud of you. We wish you great success in the years ahead and look forward to hearing about your continued journey of excellence!”
Attendees were invited to explore the HIVE, IBI Group’s new immersive virtual engagement platform, following the opening remarks. Graduates had the opportunity to sign the virtual yearbook, capture their moment in the photobooth, enjoy music from Toronto’s top musicians, mingle with their individual Program Directors, network with other graduates, experience an aerial view of Toronto and discover some post-grad opportunities.
The Class of 2021 will now join Schulich’s Global Alumni Network and become connected to over 33,000 alumni with 93 chapters in 62 countries!
