Attending Schulich’s MBA Program was the Best Professional Choice I’ve Ever Made
Sean Militello is currently the Technology Director at Ginkgo Sustainability Inc. in Toronto, Ontario. Initially hired as a Lead Developer and Project Manager for a small technology team, the role quickly evolved. In addition to building the technology, it was evident that the company required assistance in formulating a comprehensive project strategy.
“It felt like we were a start-up: I was wearing all the hats every single day.” said Sean. “I was amazed how prepared I felt; Schulich gave me this incredible foundation in all the areas I needed. No matter which team-members or stakeholders I connected with I was able to listen, reflect, and contribute to the conversation.”
The small team Sean first joined has now grown into an entire division, and SoiLiNQ™ – Ginkgo’s flagship GreenTech product – is getting ready to launch in March 2024. SoiLiNQ aims to accomplish all the goals of “wearable sensors for plants”, something the World Economic Forum says will change the world.
“I’m proud of the suite of products our group has built, but prouder still of our rich culture of cooperation, ingenuity, and resilience. Learning how to foster that kind of growth may be the most important thing Schulich taught me,” expressed Sean. “Attending Schulich’s MBA program was the best professional choice I’ve ever made.”
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens with the new Tech MBA program. I’d love to see a deep connection between it and the Business and the Environment at Schulich, which has been a real light in the sustainability leadership space for a while,” said Sean. “Students from those programs, together, are going to have a huge impact on our ability to mitigate and survive the consequences of climate change.”
Sean was also a panelist at the Insights 2023 conference, that took place November 10th and 11th at the Schulich School of Business.
