A Resounding Success for Schulich’s First-Ever Giving Day
On November 24th, Schulich launched its first-ever Giving Day, a 24-hour virtual engagement and philanthropic campaign inviting the Schulich community – alumni, students, staff, faculty, and friends from around the world to come together for a common goal to support our students.
And the response was incredible. Our target was to raise $25,000 from the Schulich community and match it dollar-by-dollar thanks to a generous donation from the Katherine Meaney Svec Estate. We surpassed our target and were in fact able to raise a total of $65,411! Thanks to the amazing support of the Schulich community.
Although physically apart, Giving Day was also an opportunity to engage and connect with the community in the digital era as more people are home. The Schulich community was encouraged to participate in social media challenges including posting a selfie wearing Schulich apparel or answering a trivia question for a chance to win prizes.
“Giving Day is an innovative fundraising concept that is simple yet inspiring,” said Interim Dean Detlev Zwick. “The strength of the Schulich community has always been a shared sense of responsibility for the success of the next generation of our alumni and this is evident by the incredible results of Giving Day.”
The inaugural Giving Day was launched during a challenging economic time for many people, yet donors were inspired to support given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students.
Thank you to all of our Giving Day supporters who are recognized on the Giving Day Donor Roll. Your generous donations will make a real difference to our students, and that is what Giving Day is all about.
We look forward to the next Giving Day in November 2021. If you wish to support our students, please visit https://schulich.yorku.ca/donors/annual-fund/
