The George Weston Ltd. Centre works to support educational programs at the Schulich School of Business where students are interested in the intersection of supply chain management and sustainability.

Graduates of Schulich’s cutting-edge programs and specializations are well equipped with the analytical and managerial skills needed to find creative supply chain solutions to business opportunities and problems in private, nonprofit, or governmental sectors. Program offerings include:

Student-Industry Supply Chain Consulting Project (SCCP)

Participate in our annual student-industry consulting projects to solve an organizational problem or to conduct a research project.

Graduate students from Schulich’s Master of Supply Chain Management (MSCM) program work with organizations to solve real world, business problems related to supply chain management. Since 2019, a wide range of domestic and international companies have participated in this 4-month capstone course in which student teams provide a client organization with a deliverable of strategic importance to the improvement of their supply chain function. The projects expose students to real-world problems and organizations to potential talent.

Sustainable Supply Chain Leader Scholarships

The Centre supports the development of future supply chain leaders through the provision of the George Weston Ltd. Sustainable Supply Chain Leader Scholarships. Each year, two $5,000 scholarships are awarded to incoming students to Schulich’s Master of Supply Chain Management (MSCM) program.

Extracurricular & Experiential Learning Opportunities

The Centre works to enrich the student experience at Schulich through development and support of extracurricular and experiential learning opportunities for Schulich students and alumni in collaboration with industry, government, and other partners. These may include practitioner conferences, research forums, networking events, working groups, internship programs, and industry site visits, among other activities.

Increasingly, business education requires pedagogical innovation and the development of engaging supporting educational materials that reflect the real-world challenges of achieving sustainable supply chains.

The Centre supports the development of supply chain management curricula, educational materials, and other resources to benefit public and for-profit management education.

Curricular support includes developing or providing guidance related to:

      • Courses or classes focused on sustainable supply chains
      • Experiential learning and learning materials (i.e., case studies, exercises, and simulations)
      • New partnerships with experiential learning clients (i.e., Capstone project partners)
      • Learning objectives for new programs and curricular reform of existing programs
