Description | Sustainability has emerged as a new area for contemporary managers. It occurs either as a challenge to existing practices and the bottom line, or as a source of considerable new business opportunities. This course explores the ways organizations can respond to increasing expectations on delivering sustainable performance at the economic, social and environmental level. Managers need to understand how business interfaces with a diverse group of stakeholders, including government and civil society, in their response to growing demands for sustainable practices. In this course students will be challenged to think critically about the role of business in creating a sustainable world. Students will gain a solid understanding of the different ways in which companies can respond to growing pressures to adopt sustainability and will study basic strategic ways of how companies can lead the way forward by developing practical solutions to some of society's most challenging problems. |
