Alan’s presence requires many words, even sentences to express his impact. I remember on morning when we were hosting a Shanghai government delegation at the Keele campus and I got stock in traffic. I got there 2 minutes before the official start of the day and the traditional group picture. I felt really bad for my lateness. Alan saw me and turned the whole situation to my advantage, making feel welcome and preserving my dignity. All our guests were totally under the charm and I was so grateful. That is the mark of a great leader, making others feel like they did it all by themselves. I will miss you and I know you will be way too busy creating other stories.
