Mark Zaky MREI 2019
Mark Zaky

After working in various fields, from computer programming to electronics manufacturing, Mark came across the world of real estate development as he was exploring different industries in which his colleagues and family worked. He was soon taken with the vision of some day running his own real estate development firm, rivalling the likes of First Gulf and Oxford.

With his family’s backing, Mark started his own company in 2014 and acquired three parcels of commercial and residential lands in Oakville and Burlington. His short-term goal was to learn as much as possible about all facets of real estate development, such as financing, planning, construction, sales, and operations and put together a team of experts that would help him get his business off the ground.

After learning so much from his business activities, Mark looked for opportunities to get some formal education in the field and that was when he came across the MREI program. Mark is now both a full-time student at the Schulich School of Business, and is also working on his first few residential developments in Burlington. He also serves on the executive team of the Schulich Real Estate and Infrastructure Club (SREIC) student organization.

Mark holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from McMaster University.
