GBC President uses CDC resources to shape his career
Many students find obtaining an MBA opens doors to a variety of new industries. When James Prince, MBA Candidate 2019 and current Graduate Business Council President, decided he wanted to venture into new areas he sought guidance from the Schulich Career Development Centre (CDC).
“I wanted to get a scope of new industries, the trends, and where to start,” said Prince. “The CDC was extremely helpful while I was exploring new options.”
Prince attended recruiting events and workshops including Career Planning and Self-Assessment, Resume and Cover Letter Writing, and Interview Skills. He also mentioned the CDC provided support to him when he was reaching out to niche firms.
The “Design Your Life” workshop with Mark Freedman, CDC Manager, Career Advising was very valuable to Prince, allowing him to evaluate unique and powerful path directions his career could take.
Prince shares that his relationship with the CDC is a transactional one – students are always in the drivers’ seat.
“You have to use the tools provided,” Prince said. “The CDC is happy to engage and support you, but you need to know where you want to go.”
