Robert Hines, JD
Robert Hines has extensive experience in senior leadership roles in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. He has served on the board of directors of a number of corporations and is currently:
• Chair of the Independent Review Committee of Mackenzie Investments Mutual Funds
• Chair of the International Advisory Council of the Schulich School of Business at York University
Rob has held a number of senior leadership positions in investment banking, including: President and Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse Canada; Vice-Chairman of Investment Banking for Merrill Lynch Canada; and Managing Director of CIBC World Markets, working in Toronto and London.
He has also held a number of senior leadership roles in the executive search industry, including: Managing Partner Global Operations of Heidrick & Struggles at the firm’s head office in Chicago; and Senior Advisor to the Board Services practice of Korn Ferry Canada.
Rob began his career practicing law with Aird & Berlis in Toronto where he specialized in corporate finance and securities law.
Minoo Bhutani, MBA, ACC
Minoo has 18 years of experience, 12 in Banking and Accounting, including having worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, TD Securities and Scotia Capital in Canada, and a leading securities company in India. A CA finalist, he also has a BAS in Finance from York University, and an MBA in International Finance. Minoo is a Board member of the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce, as well as an Executive Board member and Treasurer of the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers (CACEE). Minoo was previously a member of Serve Canada, a youth development organization. He also has a certificate in Coaching, Business Career Counselling and Assessment and Behavioural Interview Skills.
Minoo is responsible for directing all internal aspects of the Career Development Centre and the Graduate & Internship recruiting process, ranging from student relations, counselling, workshops, events and clubs. He is involved on the external front with organizations and alumni in promoting the school.
Phanindra Deonandan, MPA, ACC
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, INDUSTRY ADVISING
Phanindra has over 15 years of teaching, training and facilitation experience in Canada, Japan and the US. She holds a BA and B. Ed from the University of Toronto, a TESL Certificate from Humber College, and an MPA from Queen’s University. She was based in Miami for over four years as the Regional Education Manager responsible for training all staff in North America and the Caribbean region in airports, in-flight and cruise-lines for Clinique, Estee Lauder Companies. Prior to that, Phanindra supervised the student internship program for an international language school in Toronto, and she worked in Japan as an English instructor for five years.
Amir Khan, BA
INDUSTRY ADVISOR (Diversified Industries)
Amir graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Amir entered the Retail Executive Program at Hudson's Bay Company and served as HR Manager for two years after working with HBC for several years on a part-time basis. He transitioned to the NFP sector as an Employment Advisor and Placement Specialist for JobSkills Canada.

Bonnie Wong, BCom, CHRL
INDUSTRY ADVISOR (Technology & Telecom)
Bonnie brings her marketing and recruitment experience to help students market their skills to potential employers, having worked at Desjardins Insurance, State Farm, Invesco Canada and a financial technology company. As a recruiting analyst at a Fortune 50 company, she launched the employer branding campaign and trained recruiters in US and Canada to source passive candidates. As a recruiter, she consulted hiring managers and developed the strategy to attract talent with diverse business experience.
Bonnie graduated from the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. She also attained her Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation. Bonnie provides advising to students seeking careers within the technology and telecom industries.
INDUSTRY ADVISOR (Entrepreneurship)
Chris Carder is a Serial Entrepreneur with more than 20 years experience in the Digital/Technology Sector and a sought-after Startup Advisor, Investor and Advisory Board Member.
Chris serves as Co-Director of Entrepreneurial Studies & Entrepreneur in Residence with The Schulich School of Business & also serves on the York University Entrepreneurship Council.
Chris is Board Chair of Kinetic Companies (holding interests in startups such as Kinetic Commerce, AdvisorStream, Wirkn, SkyMotion and Massive Damage).
He is the past President & Co-Founder of ThinData (Canada's largest email marketing services provider) - acquired by TC Media (Transcontinental) in 2018.
His Volunteer work in the Non-Profit Sector includes serving as Chairman of the International White Ribbon Campaign & he has been recognized as the Canadian New Media Awards Volunteer (and Employer) of the Year.
Christopher Symonds, BA, CMF
INDUSTRY ADVISOR (Accounting & Financial Services)
Chris is a graduate of Trent University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology; he also earned a Certificate in Coaching from the Adler School of Professional Coaching Inc., and he holds a post-graduate Diploma from George Brown College in Career and Work Counselling. He is an accredited Career Management Professional through the Institute of Career Certification International (CMF). As a Career Coach and Consultant, he has a diverse career spanning over 25 years in the not-for-profit, private, government, academic and corporate sectors. He has extensive experience working with students, specifically BBA, MBA and EMBA candidates. Chris has been an Adjunct Professor at George Brown College in the Career and Work Counsellor program. He has extensive experience in Career Management having previously been Vice President- Career Transition in two leading International Human Resources Consulting firms where he coordinated national and international projects.

Darren Lafreniere, MBA
INDUSTRY ADVISOR (Consulting)
Darren brings over 10 years of Consulting and coaching experience to the Career Development Centre. As a Management Consultant, he worked for A.T. Kearney, delivering projects in both the public and private sectors across 8 major industries. As a Career Coach, Darren has reviewed thousands of resumes and helped hundreds of candidates successfully land top jobs in Consulting, Accounting / Finance, Technology, CPG and Health Care. He has a genuine passion for helping people and takes great pride when the students he coaches are successful in their job search. Darren holds a BA in Psychology (University of Manitoba, 2001) and an MBA (Richard Ivey School of Business, 2007).

Darren Farmar, B.Comm, M.Sc.
INDUSTRY ADVISOR (Consumer Packaged Goods & Retail)
Darren brings 20 years of experience to the Career Development Centre across a variety of Sales and Marketing roles. He has worked with categories, consumers, and shoppers to build sustainable growth for tier-one companies such as PepsiCo, Kraft-Heinz, Nielsen Market Research, and Canadian Tire. He has a passion for story-telling and turning business insight into action. Darren holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Master of Science with a specialization in Marketing Management.

Judy Chong, BA, CHRL
Judy has over 20 years of diverse HR experience with Fortune 100 companies including Johnson & Johnson, Mars, and Coca-Cola. As the national Head of Talent Acquisition for Johnson & Johnson, she established the Talent Acquisition function, developing the employment brand, processes, and leading a recruiting team in Canada and the U.S., to attract and assess diverse top talent. In this position, Judy developed innovative campus recruitment strategies to showcase the company’s differentiated value proposition to new graduates.
As an HR business partner, Judy led business transformations, HR strategy development, Talent Management initiatives, and coached senior management. Complementing her corporate experience, she was a College Instructor of various HR accreditation courses at Humber and Seneca.
Judy is a graduate of York University and holds a Certified Human Resources Leader designation.
Mike Nadal, ACC
INDUSTRY ADVISOR (Banking & Asset Management)
Mike brings over 14 years of experience in financial services, asset management and wealth management, having worked at AIM Trimark, ING Direct, and for the last six years as Vice President at Tricycle Asset Management and Patient Capital Management. Students will appreciate Mike's breadth and depth of experience.

Imraan Khan, BHS
EVENTS & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Imraan is a recent graduate from York University with a BHS in Health Management and Informatics. In addition to several years of customer service and event coordination experience from roles in the public and health sectors, he has previously worked with the Career Development Centre as a Front Desk Assistant and Technology & Operations Coordinator. Imraan coordinates internal events such as the Financial Services Luncheon, the Industry Advising Breakfast & Mixer Series, Career Workshops, and any additional CDC student networking events.
CAREER CENTRE ASSISTANT
Michelle’s professional experience spans over 10 years, providing administrative support and customer service while working in the health care, and travel and tourism industries. Michelle coordinated patient and client services with organizations such as The Hospital for Sick Children and Lester B. Pearson Airport. Additionally, Michelle obtained her Diploma from Seneca College in the Travel and Tourism Program.
As the first point of contact for the Schulich Career Development Centre, Michelle coordinates front line operations and provides excellent customer service to students, alumni, recruiters and guests. She further schedules career advising appointments for students, oversees the Centre’s primary student email account, and is involved with recruitment information sessions and events.
Rose Lucibello, BA
STUDENT EVENTS COORDINATOR (On Maternity Leave)
(On Maternity Leave until December 2020)
Rose graduated from York University with a BA in Sociology and Psychology. In addition to having several years of customer service experience in the retail industry, Rose has provided excellent service to York students working within the Faculty of Arts Advising Centre and the York University Career Centre. Rose coordinates internal events such as the Financial Services Luncheon, the Industry Advising Breakfast & Mixer Series, Career Workshops, and any additional CDC student networking events.
Sybil Massey, BA
OPERATIONS LEAD, BUSINESS PROCESS
Sybil organizes communications, short-term staffing resources, website support and is the in-house system administrator for the Career Development Centre's CRM, Handshake. Sybil has extensive experience working within a career centre environment, having worked within the post-secondary education sector for the past 19 years. During that time, Sybil's involvement has included on-campus recruitment, career management systems, communications, project management and event planning. Additionally, Sybil is a York University graduate, having obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science.
Diana Caradonna, BHRM, ACC
CORPORATE RELATIONS SPECIALIST
Diana has over 12 years of experience working with Schulich students interested in Accounting and Finance. Diana works closely with a number of clients such as Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC and our industry partners to help our students discover career opportunities in the functional area of Accounting and Finance. She empowers students in their career journey to achieve success in their job search. As a former recruiter, she hired candidates in a variety of industries and levels. Diana is an Accredited Certified Coach and a graduate of York University's Bachelor of Human Resources Management (2013).
Elana Markus, BBA
CORPORATE RELATIONS SPECIALIST
Elana has 10 years of experience - 6 years of Tier 1 Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Sales, Category Management and Brand Marketing experience from PepsiCo Canada and 4 years as a professional recruiter with Fish Recruit, collaborating with organizations in the CPG, Retail, Healthcare, and Business Enterprise sectors, to build high-performing teams through the hiring of top talent. As a Corporate Relations Specialist, Elana manages the Consumer Packaged Goods, Retail and Healthcare portfolios.
Michael Haynes, BA
CORPORATE RELATIONS SPECIALIST
Michael joins the Career Development Centre as a Western University graduate having earned his Hons. Specialization in Political Science and Hons. Double Major in Political Science and English Language & Literature. An experienced headhunter and business development professional, Michael has developed and managed lucrative corporate partnerships for Fortune 500 recruitment agencies Adecco and Manpower, staffing large multinational organizations as well as SME companies. As a Corporate Relations Specialist at the CDC, Michael manages the
Consulting, Technology, Telecom, Manufacturing and Logistics corporate relations portfolios.
Emma Darmody, BA
CORPORATE RELATIONS RECRUITMENT COORDINATOR
Emma has a BA in Media and English, and over 6 years of event coordination experience. Before moving to Toronto, and joining the Schulich CDC team, Emma spent 3 years working with the UCD Smurfit School of Business CDC, in roles such as Events Assistant, and Senior Executive Assistant. Prior to this, Emma also spent time working in Hospitality, as a Wedding and Conference coordinator.
As the Recruitment Coordinator, Emma works with the Corporate Relations Specialists to plan and execute all on- and off-campus recruitment events and activities on behalf of Schulich students.
Michelle Steiner, BA, B.Ed.
BUSINESS RELATIONS COORDINATOR: DIGITAL COMMUNCIATIONS AND CORPORATE EVENTS
Working alongside the Corporate Relations team, Michelle continues to develop strong rapport with major stakeholders throughout the university and with large corporations.
Responsible for the branding and communications of the Career Development Centre’s services, Michelle develops content and implements strategies to increase student and alumni engagement.
Michelle is also responsible for corporate recruiter events and maintains strong professional relationships with senior leadership professionals and alumni who have direct impact on student employment opportunities.
Michelle holds a Marketing Certificate from the Canadian Marketing Association specializing in Social Media, Content & Branding Communications. She also graduated from York University with a BA in Sociology and B.Ed. with a Fine Arts Specialization.
Swati Sharma, BCom
Swati has over five years of talent attraction and human resources experience. She started her career at a non-profit organization, then moved to corporate gaining experience with a multinational retailer and a Canadian-based international weather content & technology company. In both of these roles, she led campus recruitment while working on strategies to attract and retain top talent by enhancing employer brand and employee engagement.
Swati also bring over ten years of experience working with youth between the ages of 12 to 18 through the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program. She served as a Lieutenant and a Training Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, Primary Reserves. She trained youth on leadership, aviation, community service, physical fitness and basic survival.
Swati earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Ryerson University and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management from Sheridan College. Working alongside the Corporate Relations team, she helps organizations meet their campus recruitment goals by connecting them with top students from Schulich School of Business.
