Schulich Startups Winner Lands $3 Million Investment
Same-day delivery has changed the way we shop. It integrates the convenience of online retail with the immediacy of bricks-and-mortar stores. Schulich alumni Aadil Kazmi (BBA’15) and Co-founder of ShipSwyft recently announced an investment round closing of $3 million – the largest seed round landed by any Schulich Startups alumni.
Same-day logistics is one of the biggest challenges that merchants of any size face today. ShipSwyft software helps merchants solve that issue by offering a platform that provides access to a wide network of courier partners, making same-day delivery reliable, fast, and affordable. The fundraising round was backed by TRUCKS VC, Golden Ventures, Panache Ventures, and other strategic angel investors.
Aadil was recently awarded first place at Schulich Startups Night 13, a bi-annual event that has fostered a community of 150 companies and more than 200 founders. SSN provides students and alumni the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a panel of top industry professionals for a chance to win a $5000 cash prize.
“The whole Schulich Startups community is so inspired by what Aadil and ShipSwyft have accomplished during the past three months,” said Chris Carder, Schulich Entrepreneur-in-Residence. “At Schulich Startups, we teach people that when opportunity knocks, you need to take bold calculated risks and Aadil and his team have clearly seized the moment.
