Schulich Professor to Share Expertise at UN General Assembly
Jane-Michèle Clark, a popular Schulich professor of marketing and Cybersecurity thought leader, was invited to share her expertise with global decision-makers at the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The assembly will take place this September in New York.
Professor Clark will deliver recorded remarks on the evolving and escalating nature of current cyberthreats in the opening plenary session. She also authored cybersecurity and cloud migration editorials for a magazine slated for distribution throughout the event, and to 100,000 subscribers around the world.
Professor Clark will draw upon decades of experience with IT clients, her research on cybersecurity and her work with one of her current IT clients, Cloud Managed Networks (working in tandem with Cisco, Extreme Networks, Ingram Micro, Zscaler and others).
According to Clark, “We’re looking at a sea change in the way cybercrimes are perpetrated today. Hoodied hackers have morphed into well-organized and well-funded business owners – and hoodies have given way to Armani. Access brokers abound on the dark web, offering up corporate secrets along with individuals’ personal data.
It’s easy for them to get this info because many companies don’t protect their cloud the way they do their endpoints – and this vulnerability is being targeted by bad actors. As organisations enter Phase 2 of their cloud migration, multi-layer security is essential, or they risk becoming the next cybersecurity victim – something that happens every 37 seconds globally.”
