Schulich MBA Program Ranked #1 in the World in Responsible Business
TORONTO, ON – Thursday, October 9, 2014 – The MBA program at York University’s Schulich School of Business was today ranked #1 in the world according to the results of a global survey conducted by Corporate Knights, the world’s largest circulation magazine with an explicit focus on responsible business. The magazine is published quarterly and distributed in Canada through The Globe and Mail and in the US through The Washington Post.
The Global 100 Sustainable MBA survey assessed how well business schools from around the world are integrating social, ethical and environmental impact management issues into their MBA programs. The survey results will be published in the Fall 2014 issue of Corporate Knights, to be distributed on October 23rd, and are available online.
Schulich ranked 1st overall, with a score of 93%, beating out Harvard Business School, Yale School of Management and two other Canadian schools for top spot. Other prominent business schools that placed among the top 20 are the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago (12th), the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley (16th), and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania (19th). The Global 100 Sustainable MBA survey assessed the top 100 business schools listed in the 2013 Financial Times of London Global MBA ranking and measured business schools in three key areas: core curriculum courses, dedicated institutes and centres, and faculty research.
According to Corporate Knights, “Schulich’s prescient embrace of sustainability issues in the early 1990s helped to build an early competitive advantage” for the School in this increasingly important area of business management. Corporate Knights also noted that top-ranked Schulich “continues to push the limits of sustainable business education today, anchored by research hubs such as the Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business and the Institute for Research and Innovation in Sustainability.”
This is the second straight year that Corporate Knights has ranked Schulich 1st overall and marks the third time that Schulich has been rated #1 in the world in responsible business. Schulich finished first overall in the 2009-2010 Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking, conducted by the Aspen Institute, a Washington, DC leadership think tank.
“The Corporate Knights Global 100 Sustainable MBA ranking measures which schools are doing the best job of preparing future business leaders for the environmental, social and ethical complexities of modern-day business, and we are pleased that Schulich has once again been ranked #1 in the world in responsible business,” said Dezsö J. Horváth, Dean of the Schulich School of Business.
