Schulich Club Comes in 1st Place for CIBC’s Charity Event
Under Jessica Waslenko (BBA ’21) and Emily Leang’s (BBA ’21) leadership, the Schulich Charity Association (SCA) was recently named the ‘Post-Secondary Challenge’ award winner after coming in first place in fundraising for the CIBC Run for the Cure event.
“Breast Cancer is a widespread issue, and we feel that it is our duty to support and advocate for causes that are close to our hearts,” shared the duo on behalf of the club. “All of our executive members played a part in achieving this goal.”
The club mainly relied on popular social media platforms—Facebook and Instagram—to get the word out to the Schulich community. They believe that the strategies they learned from their Social Media Marketing course helped them with their advertising, from understanding how to create effective call-to-actions to encouraging the widespread use of hashtags.
“We are so appreciative of everyone who supported our team by donating, participating in the virtual run, or going out for socially distanced runs,” shared the club in their latest Instagram post. “Thank you for helping us change the future of breast cancer!”
