Schulich Alumni Awarded Canada’s 2019 Top Developer 30 Under 30
Evoke, one of the largest developer conferences in Canadian history, took place last week in Toronto. A non-profit initiative, presented by Havas Canada & Plastic Mobile and sponsored by Microsoft, it brought together a community of developers, inspirational figures and aspiring industry experts for thought-provoking debates and discussions on today’s technology.
To shine light on the developer talent from all disciplines across Canada, the evening concluded with the Developer 30 Under 30 Awards Reception which featured Schulich alumni, Ali El-Shayeb (iBBA ’17), Founder of nugget.ai. Ali is a seven-time hackathon award winner out of Toronto. His platform, nugget.ai, uses AI to help employers hire and develop top talent through interactive and open-ended challenges to create unique team profiles.
“Receiving the award is a humbling and rewarding feeling, but only reminds me that the road to come will only get tougher,” said El-Shayeb. “Having a 30U30 label beside your name gets people excited but also elevates expectations. Schulich’s entrepreneurship community has been phenomenal in providing us with their expertise and support in building a product for customers to fall in love with.”
Ali acknowledges this award as a reminder of the road he has travelled thus far, and a constant reminder of where he must go.
