Instructor Selected for ULI Women in Leadership Champions Team
Sherena Hussain, Instructor in the Schulich Real Estate and Infrastructure Program, has been selected as a 2020 inductee into the Urban Land Institute Women Leadership Initiative’s Champions Team.
“It is an honour to join a group of leading women that are also trailblazers for our inclusive and transformative industry,” said Hussain.
As an educator, practitioner and champion for future leaders, Sherena actively seeks opportunities to introduce new members of the industry. As part of the Brookfield Centre for Real Estate and Infrastructure, Hussain has a reputation as not only a mentor, but also as an agent of change for many – from the way she teaches her courses to the way she advocates for leadership roles for visible minorities when she speaks at events.
As Academic Director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Fellowship Program, Hussain led the conception, development and delivery of an intense and best-in-class experiential executive academic program for 13 senior government officials from five continents in 2019. This G7 global initiative continues to grow to encompass more participants from more countries while also evolving to reflect new thinking on sustainable infrastructure investment.
For the past five years Sherena has encouraged and accompanied each female student in her Real Estate and Infrastructure graduate courses to the annual WIN CCPPP Breakfast. This offers an opportunity for her students to meet other successful women in the industry, develop confidence to network and explore career opportunities.
The Women Leadership Initiative is designed to showcase leading women in the real estate industry, as well as develop actionable initiatives to support the growth and career development of women across all facets of the industry. It was established by ULI in 2014 and has since grown in prominence across ULI’s chapters.
