Omar Alghabra Joins Schulich’s Tech MBA Advisory Council
TORONTO – Thursday, February 1, 2024 – The Schulich School of Business at York University today announced that Omar Alghabra, PC, MP (Mississauga Centre) has joined the School’s Tech MBA Advisory Council.
Alghabra is a senior executive and leader with a distinguished career in the private and public sector, including most recently as Minister of Transport for the Government of Canada, where he delivered key initiatives that advanced Canada’s economic prosperity, security, and competitiveness.
During his term at Transport Canada, he overhauled the rules governing the country’s transportation network and supply chains, establishing the foundation of more resilient, greener and innovative transportation system in Canada.
His private sector experience includes work with several corporations, including GE, where he served in various capacities such as quality assurance, sales and business operations. He holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business and a Mechanical Engineering degree from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Schulich’s groundbreaking MBA in Technology Leadership (Tech MBA) is the first degree of its kind in Canada.
