MREI Alumnus Recognized in Top 35 Under 35
You might say Tyler McLay (MREI ’19) was born in to Real Estate – after all, he is a third-generation realtor. But in Toronto’s saturated market McLay knew he needed something to differentiate himself from others, which lead to him pursuing a Master of Real Estate and Infrastructure at Schulich.
After focusing on Finance as an undergrad, McLay wanted to expand his knowledge of the real estate industry and realized having MREI designation after his name could be a way to instantly add value to his clients.
“The MREI pushed me to a higher level of thinking,” he said. “The professors and classes take a deep dive in to how things like interest rates and construction work, and how and why the market reacts the way it does.”
Transacting in over $250 million in real estate so far in his career, McLay has assisted buyers and sellers with property of all shapes and sizes; ranging from 400 square foot studio apartments in the downtown core to seven figure, 100-acre land parcels with site plan approval. In 2020, McLay earned a spot on the highly coveted Top 35 Under 35 list in Canada and placed in the top 2% of realtors in the nation.
“Being recognized in the Top 35 Under 35 in Canada provides instant confidence to potential new clients in my abilities,” says McLay. “It makes me proud to be recognized for my hard work, time and personal investment.”
