KS15 Convocation: The Best is Yet to Come – Mellie Chow
KS15 EMBA Convocation was an inspirational day that celebrated our hard work, commitment and sacrifice. It was also a day of recognition and appreciation for those who have believed and invested in us. Because it truly took a village to expand what our minds thought possible and to reach beyond limits we could only imagine. We were humbled by the privilege to be amongst the best business minds and future leaders in Canada.
Our Kellogg-Schulich EMBA is like an all-access pass to global business opportunities. It is also a license to shatter the glass ceiling; our graduating class had the highest female enrollment of any business school in North America. The shift only enhanced our experience and enriched the diversity of our cohort.
Entering the Kellogg-Schulich program, my aspiration was to become a shifter and founder. However, I did not expect to meet my Co-founder and lifelong friend, let alone land on a digitally disruptive business idea through Schulich’s newly-offered New Venture Design course. On top of, that I was able to fulfill my dream to shift into the Venture Capital industry by becoming a Limited Partner and Investment Committee Advisor with Purple Arch Ventures. Like myself, my EMBA classmates were also landing bigger and better opportunities, including C-suite and VP promotions within their current organizations, global relocations and executive roles within new organizations, just to name a few.
Now that I have collected my EMBA, my passport for continuous learning and growth, I have never felt more prepared to apply the entrepreneurship and innovation tools I have acquired. For instance, post EMBA, a Food-Tech startup that I was involved in, The Revolving Kitchen, went on to win 2nd place at the 8th edition of the Schulich Startup Night. I feel fortunate to be able to pursue my passion. I also owe it to the people in my network who invested in and supported me.
Given a world full of uncertainty, there’s only one thing that is certain. Our best is yet to come and I have never felt better equipped for what lies ahead.
