Kellogg-Schulich EMBA Sponsors the Inaugural ROB EMBA Summit
On September 10th, the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA (EMBA) program participated as lead sponsor in the first EMBA Summit at The Globe and Mail head office in downtown Toronto. The Summit was an opportunity for prospective students to meet graduates from the EMBA program, listen to candid discussions and network.
Schulich Dean Dezsö J. Horváth gave some introductory remarks. “Our program is now in its 17th year,” he said. “In 2001, we became the first cross-border Executive MBA in North America and, in fact, one of the first cross-border degrees of any kind in the world. Over the years, we have not only enrolled up and coming single leaders and successful entrepreneurs, we have also enrolled Nobel prize winners, the youngest ever recipient of the Order of Canada, Olympic athletes and business leaders like today’s keynote speaker.”
Mary Ann Yule (EMBA ’11), President and CEO of HP Canada, was the keynote speaker and took the stage to share her EMBA experience at Kellogg-Schulich. She has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the Canadian technology sector. In her current role, Yule is responsible for all aspects of HP’s business and operations in Canada and is also committed to leading the industry with regard to diversity and inclusion efforts. This includes reversing the trend of under representation of woman in technology and leadership roles.
“I considered an Executive MBA a few times before I committed to it. The reasons I wanted to do it were to sharpen and advance my skills and knowledge, to hone what I had already knew about business, to expand my professional network (because learning new things excites me) and ultimately, to help advance my career,” said Yule.
“My EMBA provided me with real-time learnings that I could apply the very next day at work. You get to put things into action immediately, to advance the work you are doing, to deliver stronger results – which is great for you, your team and your employer. It makes you a stronger candidate for career advancement opportunities.”
The Report on Business team has indicated that this EMBA Summit was a success and is the first of what they anticipate will become an annual event.
