International married couple gets win-win with Schulich MBA
Back in 2011 while living and working in India, married couple Swati Anand and Gautam Suri decided they both wanted to pursue an MBA – preferably without a long distance relationship. Thanks to the diverse range of specializations at the Schulich School of Business, they were able to stay together without compromising their studies. Swati focused on Marketing and Strategy while Gautam concentrated on Organizational Behaviour and Operations.
As international students, the breadth of the Schulich MBA program was as much a deciding factor as the location of the school, however once they arrived in Toronto they were delighted by the diversity in the city – and in their classrooms.
“Keep an open mind and mingle with others,” says Swati, on advice for people considering an MBA. “Make an effort to connect with other cultures and socialize with people in your class,” adds Gautam. “Get to know people in the classes graduating before and after you. When entering the workforce, networking is the name of the game.”
Currently Swati holds the position of Social Media Manager at Hudson’s Bay Company and Gautam holds the position of Senior Consultant in the People & Change practice at KPMG. On weekends, Swati loves capturing great photography and Gautam enjoys biking by the lakeshore. They are considering staying in Canada permanently.
