How Gloria Ekua Arthur Turned a KPMG Internship Offer into a Full-Time Role
Starting her journey as a full-time MBA student at Schulich in January 2024, Gloria Ekua Arthur (MBA Candidate ‘25) was determined to achieve her career goals and earn a CPA designation.
To get a better understanding of her career aspirations and the steps needed to pursue the CPA after graduation, Arthur booked a career planning session with advisor Chris Symonds at the Centre for Career Design (CCD). He provided invaluable guidance on the necessary courses and helped her align her academic path with her professional goals.
After finding the Summer Intern – Consultant: Technology Risk Services role on the KPMG website, Arthur contacted Symonds again for a resume and cover letter review. His feedback was instrumental in shaping her application materials to stand out. He also advised her to target the Big 4, which motivated her to apply to KPMG. With her revamped resume and cover letter, Arthur submitted her application and was thrilled to receive an interview invitation a few weeks later.
The interview process was intense, but the support from the CCD made all the difference. Arthur scheduled a mock interview with Symonds, where they worked on her elevator pitch and practiced behavioral and situational interview questions. His tips on communication and interview preparation were incredibly helpful. For the case interview component, Arthur utilized resources from the Management Consulted platform offered by the CCD to hone her skills.
After successfully navigating the first and second interviews, Gloria was initially offered an internship opportunity for Summer 2025. However, the recruiter at KPMG later called to inform her that they were pleased to extend a full-time offer instead.
When it came to negotiating the offer, Arthur reached out to the CCD once again for guidance. She will be starting her role as Consultant: Technology Risk Services in September 2025! Additionally, Arthur has secured an internship with the Ontario Public Service, Ministry of Solicitor General, starting in September 2024. Her dedication, combined with tailored guidance from the CCD, have helped her chart an exciting career path during her program, and beyond.
