Co-Founder of WIND Mobile Believes in the Power of Giving Back
Brice Scheschuk, CFO at Globalive Technology, Managing Partner at Globalive Capital. Co-founder and CFO of WIND Mobile hosted a special lecture for our MBA students this month, where he shared the challenges and triumphs he faced while launching the well-known Canadian wireless telecommunications provider, WIND Mobile.
WIND Mobile, now known as Freedom Mobile, is Canada’s fourth largest mobile network operator and recognized for offering affordable phone plans.
Scheschuk openly discussed the issues the company faced—such as public ownership, heavy debt and an unqualified management team—before their initial launch in 2008. He credits his success to the network of contacts that helped him, as well as the charitable work the company did.
He left the audience with the following key takeaways: do not be afraid to change the trajectory of your business; prioritize your talent team and culture; and most importantly, give back your time to raise the next level of destructors.
“The most valuable commodity is the time and judgement of the ecosystem,” said Scheschuk. “When you are successful to your own level of satisfaction, I want you to make the point of giving back.”
“Brice took 50 of our top Schulich Startups Founders and Innovation Leaders on an incredible storytelling journey that enlightened, entertained and left us all with an inspired mission for Canada’s next 150 years of innovation,” said Chris Carder, Schulich Entrepreneur in Residence. “Thank you Brice! Your talk will be remembered as a catalyst moment for our community.”
