CDC helps MBA Candidate land her dream job
Career Coach Advising is one of the many services the Career Development Centre (CDC) offers Schulich students. Karen Punn, MBA Candidate 2019, worked closely with her career advisor Victoria Cabral last year and secured a job before graduation.
One of Karen’s goals for her MBA was to pivot within a more challenging role in Banking. She went into the CDC to get up to speed on networking skills, learn to navigate different opportunities and tap in to the CDC’s professional networks.
“My meetings with Victoria were very tailored and specific to me. She understood my educational background and previous work experience, but more importantly understood what I was looking to achieve,” said Karen.
Karen met with Victoria on a regular basis who kept her up to date on upcoming networking events, and often sent job postings her way. Meeting regularly allowed Victoria to stay up to date on Karen’s progress – and her ambitions.
Victoria introduced Karen to her RBC connections, which eventually lead to a summer internship. Karen’s efforts during her internship paid off and now she’s signed on for a consulting position after she graduates.
“The more work you put in, the more beneficial your overall relationship with the CDC will be,” Karen says. “The CDC can’t get you a job, but if you put in the work the CDC is there to support and help you.”
