Fangyi’s book of poetry and essays, With You, To Me, Beyond Time which includes 10 of Fangyi’s drawings, was published by the Shanghai Arts and Culture Publishing House under her literary pseudonym, Bin Luo.
The September 1st launch received wide media coverage and high praise including that of the Deputy Chairman of the Xiamen Writers’ Association, Mr. Nan Song, who described the book as “the most beautiful and exquisite book of poetry anthology in Chinese,” praising the author’s poetic ideal, expression of her emotions, and style, as well as the book’s exquisite designs.
Fangyi drew on her experiences at Schulich for several of the poems and essays including “Life’s Melody Chanting between You and Me” about the poet’s study ideal abroad and friendship with a schoolmate at Schulich, “I Missed You There” and “Heavy Snow in Toronto.”
At the grand launch of the book, Fangyi spoke of her pride in her MBA education at Schulich, particularly in the MBA Program in Arts, Media and Entertainment Management: “I always remember my hard study and good times at Schulich. My experiences in York University … became a rich source of inspiration.”
Fangyi plans to translate the book into English in the next year and looks forward to sharing it with schoolfellows at York.
