Dr. Abi Sriharan is an internationally recognized thought leader in creating a thriving work culture in the health sector. She is currently a Senior Scientist and Research Director at Krembil Centre for Health Management and Leadership. Her research focuses on control systems and adaptive leadership, with specific interests in power stress, burnout, innovation and human-machine teams. Her work has been covered in well-known media outlets, including the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, CTV News, and Global TV. She has received awards for her research from the Global Alliance for Medical Education, the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Civic Engagement from the University of Oxford, and the President’s Award from the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions. In 2022, she was named a Connaught Global Scholar for her research on AI and the future of work in the health sector.
Dr. Sriharan teaches topics related to human factors, innovation and strategy at the graduate and executive levels. In 2021, she received the Eugene Stuart Program Leadership Award from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Sriharan also has 15 years of extensive global experience in serving on the board of and advising the management teams of health sector organizations and multinational agencies. As an International Coaches Federation accredited professional coach, she regularly coaches physicians and healthcare executives globally and designs and leads senior leadership development programs for leading health sector organizations.
Before joining the Schulich School of Business, she served in senior leadership roles at Medical Schools and Healthcare Organizations in Canada and the USA. Most recently, Dr. Sriharan was an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation and served as the Program Director of the Systems Leadership and Innovation program at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Sriharan received her D.Phil and MSc from the University of Oxford and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto. She received additional leadership and coaching training from Harvard University and the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. She is a Professionally Certified Leadership coach with the International Coaches Federation and a Fellow of the Institute of Coaching at Harvard University.
