Faisal Habib is adjunct professor of Finance at the Schulich School of Business and the Director of BMO Future Leaders Finance Lab. His research interest and expertise span the fields of engineering, mathematics, finance, and computer science which he leverages in various consulting engagements and leadership roles. Presently, he also leads the technology and artificial intelligence strategy at the Index Standard.
With a career spanning three decades, Faisal has served in various capacities at financial and technology firms with a track record of commercializing research. From 2008 to 2013, Faisal served as the COO & Director of Financial Engineering at QWeMA Group where he oversaw the development of computational algorithms, financial models, and software implementation of the product allocation algorithm. Following QWeMA’s acquisition by CANNEX in 2013, Faisal assumed the position of VP Research, leading a cross-functional team to innovate solutions in wealth management, investments, and insurance. Prior to his role at QWeMA, he worked as a software design engineer for technical firms in Canada and the USA.
Faisal has a Master of Science in Applied Computing (2021), Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Engineering (2008), MBA (2000), and Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering (1996). He is also certified as a Financial Risk Manager and holds a Professional Engineer license from the province of Ontario, Canada.
