Carol Annett (MBA '93)

CEO, VHA Home HealthCare; Board Member, Sunnybrook

Carol Annett is currently the CEO of VHA Home HealthCare, a large not for profit home care provider in Ontario. She holds a Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto and a Masters of Business Administration from York University’s Schulich School of Business. Committed to service excellence and innovation, Carol has a track record of accomplishments in both the health care and social service sectors in various clinical, leadership and consulting roles. She has worked in acute and long term care facilities as well as community-based organizations and served as the Executive Director of a children’s mental health centre prior to joining VHA in 1999 – initially as the VP of Business Development, Quality Management and Contracts, then as the CEO as of 2004. Active in her local community as a volunteer for a variety of initiatives, Carol is both a member of the Nonprofit Management Advisory Board for the Schulich School of Business and a mentor for students in the MBA Program. Carol is also a peer reviewer for Accreditation Canada, a Director on the Board of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Past President of the Board of the Ontario Community Support Association.

Hala Beisha (MBA '13)

Founder and Principal, Resilience Factor

Hala is the Founder and Principal of Resilience Factor. She holds an MBA in strategic management and Master of Design in Foresight and is a certified executive coach accredited by the International Coach Federation. Hala is an Executive Coach for the Schulich Kellogg EMBA program and is an Associate Coach at BetterUP.

She partners with professionals working in high stress, complex, transforming and fast paced environments such as busy hospitals, growing law practices, global construction companies, scaling tech companies, design and consulting firms to help them create positive and lasting change to live successful, engaged and confident lives with a focus on purpose, passion, clarity and career iteration.

Roman Dubczak (MBA ’87)

Managing Director & Global Head, Investment Banking, CIBC

Roman Dubczak is responsible for all capital markets financing and advisory activities at CIBC. He is a member of CIBC’s Operating Committee, the Capital Markets Executive Committee and a board member of CIBC World Markets Inc. Mr. Dubczak joined CIBC in 1992 and has worked in a variety of capital markets roles. He was previously responsible for CIBC’s Global Equities, Equity Capital Markets and Corporate Debt Origination franchises. Prior to joining CIBC, Mr. Dubczak had roles in corporate development, portfolio management and assurance.
Mr. Dubczak holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto (St. Michael’s College) and a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, as well as CA, CPA, CFA and ICD.D designations.
Mr. Dubczak is currently a board member and the past Chair of the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation, the CIBC Children’s Foundation, the Fraser Institute, the Dean’s International Advisory Council at the Schulich School of Business. He is also past Chair of the Investment Industry Association of Canada.

Karen Elkin (MBA '02)

Karen is a dynamic coach, facilitator, trainer and consultant, providing services in a wide range of industries such as financial, pharmaceutical, and IT. With over 20 years of experience in the public and nonprofit sectors, Karen’s career has included roles in organizational and leadership development, strategic human resources consulting, transformation and change management, marketing/communications, and music education, as well as board/executive membership for several nonprofit organizations.

Jack Fraser (EMBA '13)

Jack is a serial growth venture operator and financer with more than 30 years of experience primarily in digital media and e-commerce. Since Dec 2019 Jack has been a Partner with BDC Capital’s Late Stage Growth Coinvest Fund. Jack has worked in operations with several high-growth companies in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. He has been involved with market entry into various countries in Asia-Pacific (APAC), Europe and North America. Jack’s responsibilities included online marketing, business intelligence, finance, accounting, tax structuring & compliance, corporate governance, and corporate development.

As a mentor to numerous entrepreneurs, Jack has supported the development of some of Canada’s most recognized digital retail brands. He has held COO, CFO and other executive positions throughout his career, most recently as the head of finance with SSENSE a Quebec-based global luxury fashion e-commerce retailer.

Roopin Hanspal (IMBA ’02)

Since 2012, I have been running a training and coaching company which provides services to managers, executives and CEOs in large and multinational companies in the Paris area. In 2016, I formalized and deepened my coaching capacity and have been providing solution-focused coaching and English communication training which has coaching elements.

As a coach, I hold the space for you to connect with your highest potential and build your future projects from there. This creates the conditions for you to observe beliefs, shift perspectives, open up to flow and find solutions. Step by step, you make your vision into a reality. I provide individual coaching and I am developing my capacity to provide team coaching.

What drives me, the why: contributing to the well-being of all and deepening in awareness.

Finally, I am currently completing a course on theory U, “a social technology to bring about profound innovation and change” (given by the Presencing Institute). As part of the programme, my team and I are building a prototype to connect leaders who embody awareness and run (or would like to run) businesses which have a positive impact on their ecosystem.

Paul Hillier (EMBA ‘19)

Maintaining consumer confidence requires not only that our products and services be safe, but that they are SEEN to be safe. Paul has managed campaigns defending some of the most controversial products of the past decade.

As consumers see risks in more and more products – from environmental damage to cyber threats to their own health and safety – how do we protect our products and businesses? Learn the lessons from products that have had to manage fears for years.

Paul is the practice lead at Tactix Risk Communications where he runs teams of data scientists to uncover risk perceptions. He previously served in the military’s Psychological Operations division doing counter-propaganda.

Mary-Ellen Hynd (MBA ’95)

A seasoned ICF-Accredited global coach and organizational strategist, Mary-Ellen is known for moving ideas to meaningful action through leadership, sustainability and communication. She specializes in coaching to develop a creative versus reactive leadership mindset using values as a compass for communication and decision making.

She coaches senior managers / executives, healthcare leaders, small and medium size business owners and individuals embarking on a new stage in career / life. Physician leaders are a unique area of expertise. Mary-Ellen was recruited for the Schulich Executive Education Centre’s 10-month Physician Leadership Development Program to provide individual and group coaching plus guidance for complex action learning projects.

A keen listener between the lines, Mary-Ellen puts clients at ease to evoke transformation with her straight up, insightful and compassionate approach. Mary-Ellen created and leads the Coaching to Develop a Leadership Mindset workshop series for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Academy. Matthias Kipping

Dr. Matthias Kipping is Professor of Policy, Richard E. Waugh Chair in Business History and Academic Director of the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA Program at the Schulich School of Business of York University in Toronto, Canada. He obtained Masters degrees from the Sorbonne in Paris and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government as well as a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris and received his doctorate from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Prior to joining Schulich in January 2006, Matthias held academic appointments in the UK and Spain. He has also been a visiting professor in France, Italy and Japan. His research examines the international transfer of management knowledge, in particular the role of management consultants, and the contribution of historical approaches to the study of organizations and strategy – topics on which he has published widely. For his academic achievements, he recently received a Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, spending part of the 2018-19 academic year at the Freie Universität Berlin. He is also a highly rated teacher and a past recipient of the Seymour Schulich Award for Teaching Excellence at the MBA level.

Zara Lam (EMBA '13)

Zara Lam is a KS11 (2013) and currently Director of Customer Experience with Scotiabank. Zara is a change agent with broad experience developing operationally efficient and sustainable new business models in national and international organizations.

She has a proven track record of delivering results in integrated consumer marketing, business transformation, operations, banking, financial services, and retail industries. With over 15-years of experience, Zara has developed new capabilities by connecting consumer needs with innovative business opportunities and appropriately applying six sigma and project management principles across matrix and global teams.

Moren Levesque

Professor of Operations Management and Information Systems; CPA Ontario Chair in International Entrepreneurship; Co-director of Entrepreneurial Studies

Moren Lévesque is Professor and the CPA Ontario Chair in International Entrepreneurship at York University Schulich School of Business, a Lazaridis Visiting Chair at Wilfrid Laurier University Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises, and the Harry Lyman Hooker 2020 Distinguished Visiting Professor at McMaster University DeGroote School of Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Management Science from the University of British Columbia and M.Sc., B.Sc. in Mathematics from Université Laval. Moren has been on the faculty at Université Laval, Carnegie Mellon University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Humboldt Universität, Case Western Reserve University, and the University of Waterloo as a Canada Research Chair in Innovation & Technical Entrepreneurship. Her research applies the methodologies of analytical and quantitative disciplines to the study of decision making in new business formation. She is interested in market entry decisions, funding decisions, and firm growth decisions, and the impact of time on these entrepreneurial decisions. Her work appears in Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, European Journal of Operational Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management Studies, Long Range Planning, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Organization Science, Production and Operations Management, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal and Strategic Management Journal, among other research outlets. Andrew Levison

Andrew Levison has been a senior faculty member at the Schulich Executive Education Centre for over 12 years teaching clients about Leadership and Talent Management. He is the founder and president of Above + Beyond, a Toronto-based Management Consulting Firm that specializes in Talent Assessment, Identification and Development. Their proprietary GENE Assessments and Leadership DNA technology help clients utilize predictive analytics to make smarter, faster, more objective decisions about workforce talent. Tracey Levison

Tracey Levison is a partner at Above + Beyond, a Toronto based Management Consulting company focused on the transformation of individuals and organizations globally.
Tracey has been in the business of leadership and organizational development for over 18 years. She designs curriculum, facilitates and leads long-term strategic initiatives in leadership development, change management and talent management both domestically and internationally. She works closely with senior leaders in both the private and public sector in numerous industries including banking, retail, professional services, public relations, manufacturing and government. She is part time faculty at the Schulich School of Business-Executive Education Centre. She has coached leaders and teams at all levels of management, in businesses big and small. Jeff MacInnis

Jeff MacInnis has pushed the limits of human experience as a world-class explorer and racer. He was the first to sail through the ice-choked Northwest Passage. This incredible expedition was featured in National Geographic, a best-selling book and an international television special.

Jeff has also raced in the last three Eco-Challenge World Championships and was a member of the Canadian National Ski Team.

Jeff's WIN Thinking and Business Race Programs takes his proven racing strategies to increase business results. His company WIN Thinking Productions has produced more than 2,000 projects in 36 countries on 6 continents in 3 languages.

Joseph Mapa

Adjunct Professor & Executive Director, Health Industry Management Program, Schulich School of Business; Former President and CEO of Sinai Health System

After serving as President and CEO of Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto for 16 years, Joseph Mapa assumed the role of Executive Director of the Health Industry Management Program (MBA specialization) at the Schulich School of Business, York University. An Adjunct Professor, he teaches on high performance leadership and strategic positioning in the health care sector.

A Fellow of both the Canadian College of Health Leaders and the American College of Healthcare Executives, he has served numerous sector organizations including Past Chair of the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario and Past Co-Chair of Toronto Academic Health Science Network. He also served as Vice Chair of the Canadian College of Health Leaders. He has completed terms on the Governing Council of the University of Toronto, the Ontario Hospital Association Board, the Board of the Canadian Nurses Association, the Advisory Board of the Women’s Executive Network – Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100, and Canada’s “10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures” Board of Governors.

He currently serves as Executive Advisor to the Board of Sienna Seniors Living Inc. - a publicly traded company of long term care communities and retirement residences. He also serves on the Advisory Board for MediSeen/RemoteClinic - startup digital platform company and serves as a Special Advisor to the Board of Canadian Friends of Herzog Hospital, in Jerusalem.

He has been recognized for his leadership and academic contributions including the Chairman’s Award for Distinguished Service and the Mentorship Award by the Canadian College of Health Leaders. A recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award at the Schulich School of Business, Joseph was also highlighted in a feature by Financial Post Magazine on “some of the notable graduates from internationally ranked MBA schools in Canada.”

Stephanie J. Marshall (MBA ’07)

Founder, Leadership/Mindset Coach, Kickstartology Coaching

Stephanie J. Marshall is a global Alignment Coach, with a background in digital strategy and business. She leads the Kickstartology Online Coaching Community with Nadine Silverthorne as well as providing coaching for organizations and individuals with her company Plaid Paddle. Through her Podcast, Casually Coaching Strangers, Stephanie works with callers using her unique Alignment Framework.

Kishore Moorjani (BBA ’94, MBA ’95)

Senior Managing Director & Head of Tactical Opportunities, Asia, Blackstone Group (Singapore)

Kishore Moorjani is a Senior Managing Director and leads the Asia efforts for Blackstone’s Tactical Opportunities Group.

Before joining Blackstone, Kishore was the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Credit Asia Capital, an Asian special situations investment firm he established in partnership with the Blackstone Strategic Alliance Fund. Prior to that, he launched the Asia business for D.B. Zwirn, a $5 billion special situations investment firm, and held senior positions at Colony Capital’s Asia business. Kishore has worked across Asia since 1995 having lived in Hong Kong, India, Singapore and Taiwan. Kishore received an MBA and a BBA (honors) from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.

He currently serves on the boards of Arena Living, Emergent Logistics, International Asset Reconstruction Company, La Trobe Financial and Partners Life Limited. Kishore is a Member of the Dean’s Global Advisory Council at Schulich School of Business and an Advisor to the Investment Committee of the Singapore Management University’s Endowment.

Catherine Paquet-Rivard (MBA ’94)

Senior Network Architect & Cisco Instructor, Firefly Educate

Catherine Paquet is a practitioner and a published author in the field of Internetworking, Network Security and Security Financials. Catherine has in-depth knowledge of security systems, remote access, and routing technology. She is a Cisco Certified Network Professional in Security and in Routing and Switching (CCNP Security and CCNP R&S) .

Her most recent consulting projects include conducting security assessments, performing network designs, configuring and implementing security solutions such as next-general firewalls, identity systems, virtual private networks, web and email filters, intrusion and advanced malware prevention solutions.

Catherine also acts as a Subject-Matter Expert helping Cisco Systems in the development of their training material relating to Cisco Security.

On the invitation of Cisco Systems, Catherine lectured in 22 emerging countries as part of a book tour promoting her publications on Return-on-Security-Investment (ROSI). In 2002 and 2003, Catherine volunteered with the United Nations mission in Kabul, Afghanistan, to train Afghan public servants in the area of networking.

Background:
Catherine’s internetworking career started as a LAN manager, promoted to MAN manager and eventually becoming the nation-wide WAN Manager for the Canadian Armed Forces. Catherine planned, designed and led the implementation of a network, which links 41 LANs across the country into one single WAN.

Catherine has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with a Major in Management Information Systems (M.I.S.) from York University (1994) , and holds a Bachelor degree from the Royal Military College of Saint-Jean (1986) where she was part of the 2nd class of women cadets. Catherine is fluent in both English and French and she lives in Toronto, Canada. She is married to Pierre Rivard, well-known internationally for his role in the clean tech field, and currently chairman of Tugliq Energy Inc.

Della Shea (EMBA ‘13)

Della Shea is the Chief Data Governance and Privacy Officer for Symcor Inc. and is a recognized authority on privacy, digital ethics and data operations. She is responsible for leading the organization’s data governance, data management, privacy, data protection, digital ethics and regulatory compliance functions. Under Della’s leadership, Symcor was recognized internationally with the Privacy Innovation Award presented by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (2010) and was named Canada's Information Security Executive of the year (2013). Prior to joining Symcor, she was the Director of Privacy and Information Risk for the Royal Bank of Canada where she provided strategic direction that helped launch many of the Bank’s first digital initiatives.
Passionate about the human side of data and corporate responsibility, Della’s work has been featured in various publications and she frequently speaks at prestigious academic and industry conferences. She also appears in front of Canada’s House of Commons as an expert witness on privacy matters. Della holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business (York University)/ Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University), and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University. Pauline Shum Nolan

Dr. Shum Nolan is a Professor of Finance at the Schulich School of Business. She is a former Director of the PhD Programme and is the Founding Director of the Master of Finance. She has also served on the University’s Pension Fund Investment committee for the past 16 years. She has published extensively on investment management and has given talks internationally on topics related to her research. She is the Founder of Wealthscope, a SaaS company that provides investment and retirement analytics for the wealth management industry.

BACKGROUND
Michael Wade is a Professor of Innovation and Strategy at IMD and holds the Cisco Chair in Digital Business Transformation. He is the Director of the Global Center for Digital Business Transformation. His areas of expertise relate to strategy, innovation, and digital transformation. He obtained Honours BA, MBA and PhD degrees from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, Canada. Previously, he was the Academic Director of the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA Program. Michael has been nominated for teaching awards in the MBA, International MBA, and Executive MBA programs.

RESEARCH AND THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
Michael has published works on a variety of topics, including digital business transformation, innovation, strategy, and digital leadership. He has published ten books, more than a hundred case studies and articles, and appears frequently in the mainstream media. One of his articles was among the top 20 cited articles in business, management and accounting worldwide for five years, according to Scopus (the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature). His latest book, published in 2019, is Orchestrating Transformation: How to Deliver Winning Performance with a Connected Approach to Change. His previous book, 2016’s Digital Vortex: How Today's Market Leaders Can Beat Disruptive Competitors at their Own Game won multiple awards and has been translated into five languages. Another book, ALIEN Thinking: How to Bring Your Breakthrough Ideas to Life will be published in 2021.
Professor Wade has been named one of the top ten digital thought leaders in Switzerland three times by a jury of business media, most recently in 2020.

At IMD, Professor Wade directs a number of executive programs related to digital transformation, including Digital Execution, Digital Transformation for Boards, and Digital Disruption. He also founded and directs Europe’s first and largest program for executives on digital, Leading Digital Business Transformation. He has directed custom programs related to strategy and digital business transformation for Vodafone, AXA, Tetra Pak, Honda, Gazprom, Credit Suisse, and Cartier, among others. Robert Wong (MBA ‘92)

Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer, Toronto Hydro; Broader Public Sector Cyber Security Expert Panel

Robert Wong is Executive Vice-President, Chief Information Officer at Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited. He has held the senior IT role since 2010 and is responsible for the overall delivery of information technology services for the organization, including operational technology, cyber security, and telecommunications. Robert was also Chief Risk Officer, having developed and implemented Toronto Hydro’s Enterprise Risk Management system, and was responsible for corporate strategic planning, corporate governance, performance management, and business continuity.
Having been with the organization since 1988, Robert has extensive industry experience in the electrical distribution operations areas of the business and working with the company’s board of directors.
Robert is currently on the Board of Directors, Finance and Audit, and Research Committees of Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange (CCTX) as well as serving as Chair of the Broader Public Sector Cyber Security Expert Panel, reporting to the Minister of Government and Consumer Services of Ontario.
A professional engineer with a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Robert also holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation from The Directors College (a collaboration between McMaster University and The Conference Board of Canada).
