From Dinosaurs to Tesla

The Schulich International MBA program hosted a special Speaker Series and Networking event open to students and alumni of the program. Held at Schulich’s downtown Bay St. campus, the event showcased a presentation from David McFadden, QC Counsel, Gowling WLG, Toronto and Chair of the Board of Directors, Toronto Hydro.
McFadden shared a unique perspective on technology with his presentation on Adaptability: The Keys to Success, From Dinosaurs to Tesla. He examined in a metaphor, how companies must learn to adapt to disruptive events or suffer the same fate as the dinosaurs.
In his talk, McFadden drew from his experience at Toronto Hydro, the 407 Highway and PCI Geometrics and how they fostered a culture that embraces technological change and proactively experiments with new advancements. “Nobody knows what the latest disruption will be,” McFadden said in his presentation. “Companies must be able to embrace technological change, because it is inevitable.”
