Dragon’s Den judge Arlene Dickinson has acquired two companies founded by Schulich alumna Joanna Track (MBA ’95). The Bullet, a free email subscription service that gives you “a shot” of daily news and Newsworthy Co., digital publisher and content development agency are now part of Dickinson’s group of companies in the food, health and personal care sectors.

In her new role as EVP, Media Network, Track will oversee the ecosystem’s existing media properties as well as the development of the new consumer-facing platform.

“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime to work alongside Arlene Dickinson, an iconic entrepreneur and inspiration,” said Track. “Combining my passion for content with my interest in the food and wellness spaces will be the next sweet spot of my career! My team and I can’t wait to bring this new platform to life.”

Track says one of the most important things she learned during her Schulich MBA was the value of understanding the numbers – being able to read and analyze financial statements. This has been extremely valuable to her throughout her career, and especially when negotiating a transaction as significant as the acquisition of her companies by Dickinson.

Track has the following advice for current Schulich students: “Cherish your time and the people in the program. Instead of focusing on only your grades, and what’s next, soak up the material, learn about something that simply interests you, and gain perspective from those around you. I’m still close with friends I made at Schulich 25 years ago and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to go through the program.”
