Maxim Voronov

I am fascinated by how people and organizations drive or resist big changes in our world. My research looks at the cultural and emotional forces behind change: the values and stories that inspire movements, the attachments that keep long-standing institutions in place, and the ways authenticity, power, and trust shape what people accept as legitimate. More and more, I bring these interests to the study of crises. As pandemics, climate disruption, and the erosion of democratic institutions overlap, these same forces shape whose expertise counts, how trust is lost and rebuilt, and why so many of us carry on as usual even when the warning signs are clear. Across all of this, I want to understand how meaningful change happens, and why it so often doesn’t.

My research appears or is forthcoming in Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, and Organization Studies, and I have written for broader audiences in Harvard Business Review and Scientific American.

I am a Senior Editor at Organization Studies. I am also currently serving on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, and Research in the Sociology of Organizations.
