Introduces modern optimization theory and practice. Students learn how to analyze the relevant mathematical structure of a new optimization problem and choose or revise appropriate algorithms.
Prerequisites: SC/MATH 2001 3.00 or equivalent; SC/MATH 2022 3.00 or SC/MATH 2222 3.00 or equivalent; SC/MATH 2310 3.00 or equivalent; LE/EECS 1560 3.00 or equivalent. PRIOR TO WINTER 2016: course credit exclusion: GS/MATH 6901 3.00.
