Schulich School of Business Unveils Certificate in Digital Transformation Made Possible by $1M Donation from RBC Foundation
The Schulich School of Business is launching a Certificate in Digital Transformation this fall, thanks to a $1 million donation from RBC Foundation. The innovative program is designed to equip Canadian business leaders with the skills to drive organizational change and succeed in a rapidly evolving digital economy. Building on the momentum of Schulich’s successful Tech MBA, the program strengthens the School’s role as a national leader in digital transformation education.
The 12-week in-person program will support up to 75 participants over five years, focusing on mid-career professionals, corporate intrapreneurs, and leaders of small and medium enterprises. Through a combination of academic insight and real-world application, participants will develop expertise in digital strategy, AI integration, and innovation leadership while building connections with Toronto’s dynamic tech ecosystem.
Led by Professor Murat Kristal, the Certificate in Digital Transformation blends classroom learning with applied projects, expert-led modules, simulations, and case studies. Participants will also complete a capstone field project.
The program arrives at a critical moment for Canadian businesses. A recent RBC Thought Leadership report warns that 15% of the Canadian workforce may be disrupted over the next decade as the country transitions to a net-zero economy. The certificate aims to help businesses adapt by cultivating leaders who can bridge the gap between technology and strategy.
“Given the rapidly evolving digital landscape and acceleration of AI, new skills will be needed to thrive in tomorrow’s economy,” said Michelle Waite, Regional President Greater Toronto Region, RBC. “This new certificate will empower leaders to meet today’s challenges while driving prosperity for the country.”
“Thanks to the support of RBC Foundation, Schulich is advancing its mission to deliver cutting-edge business education that empowers professionals to lead in a digital-first world,” said Dean Detlev Zwick. “This new certificate will help close the digital leadership gap in Canada, support SME innovation, and provide new career pathways at the intersection of technology, strategy, and sustainability. We are proud to partner with RBC Foundation in driving this critical initiative forward.”
