Have you ever had a package to send that you didn’t quite trust a courier company with? If you would feel more comfortable forming a personal connection with the person you need to rely on to deliver a package, you should use SendAlong – a new start-up providing delivery services anywhere in the U.S. or Canada through a community of independent travellers, co-founded by Alpha Sow (MAcc 2017).

“The current sharing economy offers the opportunity to make deliveries more secure, convenient and affordable for individuals. That is why we created SendAlong,” Sow said.

Senders pick the destination they need their item delivered to and pick a traveller who will then deliver the package. Travellers can search delivery requests for their destination and will receive payment after the item is delivered.

Sow says his time in the Schulich Master of Accounting gave him the confidence to start SendAlong, proving the program is much more than just crunching numbers.

“The MAcc has undoubtedly trained me well in accounting, but it has also provided me with lots of business insight,” he said. “Every course is adapted to the current business environment to simulate real case scenarios enabling students to learn about accounting, and also learn about business strategy and a wide range of industries.”
