Information from Funders & Sponsors: The latest from SSHRC and its partners
- The three federal research funding agencies—the Canadian Institutes of Health Research(CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)—have released their Tri-agency Research Training Strategy.
- The strategy’s aim is to ensure the suite of scholarships and fellowships the agencies deliver is equitable, inclusive, accessible and effective. It will help support and prepare a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers for careers requiring strong research skills in all sectors of society.
- The three federal research funding agencies release policy and directive on Indigenous citizenship and membership affirmation
- A new policy will provide reasonable assurance that federally funded programs, funding opportunities and/or appointments intended for Indigenous people are held by Indigenous people. The policy establishes the key elements of a new process for affirming Indigenous citizenship and/or membership in programs or opportunities explicitly designated for Indigenous Peoples.
- Government of Canada announces details of increase in award values for federal scholarships and fellowships
- The agencies are aware a significant number of trainees are paid from grants and are considering how best to support these individuals through the Budget 2024 investments. More details about Budget 2024 scholarships and fellowships investments have now been shared as they just became available.
