Student Experience Fund raises $100,000 for students

The Real Estate and Infrastructure (REI) MBA specialization is all about co-curricular activities. For students that means the opportunity to travel all over the world – from New York City to London – participating in case competitions, lectures, mentorship lunches, tours and training events.
Alumna of the program and former Schulich Real Property Students’ Association President Sandra Krecisz (MBA ’15) had an enriching experience on both sides planning and participating in the events. “The academic courses at Schulich offer so much, but there is always more you can learn outside the classroom.”
With assistance from the Student Experience Fund that provides financial support to attend events, Sandra was one of many who had the opportunity to bridge the gap between the classroom and the industry. Adjunct Professor and REI Executive Director Andre Kuzmicki is building the fund in order to engage alumni and industry to inspire and support Schulich graduate students.
“A strong co-curricular program enriches student experience, helps to bridge theory and practice and results in better preparation for launching one’s career,” Kuzmicki said. “The Student Experience Fund is vital because it supports expansion of the co-curricular program and facilitates broader participation by our students.”
Also, by engaging both alumni and industry, the $100,000 fund has helped create a strong community – one that Krecisz acknowledges did wonders for her professional network. “The extra-curricular events funded by the Student Experience Fund really allow you to build your network and get to know alumni from the program.”
