Schulich School of Business to launch 12-month Master of Management degree program
Now accepting applications to start September 2016
TORONTO – Wednesday, April 20, 2016 – The Schulich School of Business at York University is now accepting applications for its new Master of Management degree program, among the first of its kind offered in Canada, with classes starting in September 2016.
The one-year Master of Management (MMgt) program will provide recent university graduates with a broad and comprehensive business education, preparing them with the expertise and management skills needed for career success. Students are not required to write the GMAT or GRE exams in order to apply to the Schulich Master of Management program.
“The Master of Management program will uniquely equip non-business graduates with the managerial knowledge and leadership skills they need to best ensure steady upward career progression,” said Schulich Dean Dezsö J. Horváth. “Students will benefit from the opportunity to learn from leading business experts at one of the world’s top-rated global graduate business schools.”
Throughout three terms of study, Master of Management students will build knowledge of the major disciplines of management and learn to examine today’s most pressing global business issues through a multidisciplinary lens. The academically rigorous curriculum will be bolstered by experience-based, collaborative learning opportunities, including a final Enterprise Consulting Project in which teams of students will develop actionable business recommendations for a real-world company or organization, using all of their acquired Master of Management expertise.
Master of Management students will graduate from the program with an ability to evaluate and solve management issues while taking into account risk, uncertainty and ambiguity; to work effectively in groups and in teams; and to communicate effectively to a range of audiences. They will also graduate with an understanding of the obligation to act in a socially and ethically responsible manner.
Master of Management graduates will be eligible for advanced standing if they later pursue Schulich’s top-rated MBA degree, enabling them to complete the program in one year, instead of two.
Prospective students are advised that offers of admission to a new program may be made only after the University’s own quality assurance processes have been completed and the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance has approved the program. The program is also waiting for approval from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Until this approval has been received, students are not eligible for OSAP.
Application fees will be waived for all prospective Master of Management students who attend Schulich’s April 28 launch event, which will feature a sample negotiation lecture, as well as an opportunity to network with future and current students, faculty and alumni. The Master of Management launch event will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Seymour Schulich building at York University.
More information about the Master of Management program can be found on the MMgt website.
